I can't believe I actually forgot to post this earlier - I almost ran into a deer this morning:scared1::scared: It ran across the path right in front of me and scared the carp out of me, especially because at first I had absolutely no idea what it was since it was so dark outside.

Did I mention that I'm looking forward to the end of DST?

Cindy - This happened to me on Sat. a.m. I heard leaves rustling off to my left but figured it was the wind...then it seemed to just "stay with me" & I started to freak. Then I sense some movement & am about to leave skid marks (no, not on the street):rotfl: , when 2 deer bolt past me & up an embankment.:sad1:

PHILLIES WIN!!!! 2008 WORLD CHAMPIONS!! Congratulations Lou!

I posted my trip report for MCM on the other thread in case you are interested.

Just met with my accountant and he was at Game 5a on Monday and will be at Game 5b tonight. He said he was never so cold or depressed in his life. We both prayed for a win.

I think we offended the baseball gods on Monday by assuming a celebration was eminent. Today I think the plan may be to lay low.

Lou

PHILLIES WIN!!!! 2008 WORLD CHAMPIONS!! Congratulations Lou!

Thank God! I've never seen such a bunch of whiney wusses in my life!! Poor Lou was acting like it was the end of life as we know it. Why? Because the game was postponed while TIED!! With a 3-1 series lead! Losing? NOOO! TIED!:lmao:

Seriously, Lou - Enjoy the championship! And then shut your pie hole about the long suffering Philly fans.

Cindy - Excellent job on the speed work. I'm glad your run in with Bambi didn't result in any injuries. Being more of an evening runner, I'm not quite as thrilled as you to see the end of DST. Plus the fact that I'll end up working the extra hour = :headache: .

ChiChi - So, did you wield your unidentified runner's weapon on the offending deer last weekend? Venison for everyone!

Colleen - How's the hip/knee feeling?

:wave2: to everyone else.

I went out for my first post-race run tonight. 4.5 easy miles. Quads were still a bit tender, especially on the downhills, but not too bad. I don't think I can ever remember a run where I was happy for the uphills before.

Schedule calls for a rest day tomorrow (no problem) and the 20 on Friday (um, no.), then 20 again next week. I see why Jodi avoids those dumb things.

Wow...not exactly sure how to take those comments.

Anyway..........YES!!!!!!!!!! Just got back from Philly! What a night!!

Lou

Lou~ I assume it wasn't you that turned over those cars and looted some stores in Philly? :rotfl: :rolleyes1 Sad that celebrations sometime turn out this way. Some people have NC = No Class. Are you going to the parade?

Mike~ I am going to get my first "post-race" run in tonight after work. I'll let you know how it goes. I am thinking 5 miles ought to do it. I have to create my training schedule for the next three weeks and get this tired, almost sore body ready for Philly.

To the ladies~ Please avoid creating road/running path kill during your morning runs. I saw enough of that during the MCM last weekend... not deer, squirrels! :sad2: :scared:

Have a great day! '

Howard

Good morning team,

DD is sick again this morning. She is complaining about headaches and overall soreness in her joints and muscles for a few days now. She also has a sore, itchy throat, so I will run her in for another strep test this morning.:sad2:

I have no idea what could be causing all this trouble.:confused3 She did swim a little last week, maybe it was just too soon after her pneumonia.:guilty:

I have 5 miles planned for today. I am not sure when I will get it in.:sad2:

Lou, congratulations on the win. I don't follow baseball, in fact I haven't watched a game in years. I watched a lot way back before kids, but just don't have the time now. In fact, the last time I watched is when the Toronto Blue Jays and Joe Carter won the World Series. I remember it well, because the guy I was seeing at the time was a huge fan and I broke up with him the next day.:rotfl: :lmao: Harsh, I know, but it had to be done.:lmao:

Cindy, I am happy the deer is the only thing you encounter during your early morning runs. Be safe!

Sara, how have you been feeling? Is the pink eye under control?

Mike, sore quads? Why would you have sore quads after lollygagging the last 6 miles of you marathon.:rolleyes1

Hey Chester and Dave, where are you boys?

Steve, hope you are well!

Jodi, do you still have that lovin' feeling for the marathon? What did you decide for a long run this weekend? Are you going to do the half?

Cam, thank you so much the invitation. Homemade lasagna sauce? :worship: Ooh, I can't wait.

Good morning Bots :grouphug:

CONGRATULATIONS (I say that like you pitched the last inning) you are no longer part of a Louser like mentality that has gripped your city since 1983! I watched the Phillies win & was thinking about you & Nicole the entire time! When Bruce asked why I was so happy, or cared for that matter, whether the Phillies won or not I told him one of my Bots is a big fan. He looked @ me like I was insane (a daily occurrence) & nodded his head. Anyway, let the celebration begin! Is this, in any way, going to benefit me come marathon day?:rotfl:

Mike - 20 miles for you eh? Have fun. I didn't even draw down on the deer, I forgot I had my magical weapon snugly secured on my person...lot of good that things gonna do me, I can't even remember that I have it :lmao: .

Colleen - POOR DD! POOR YOU!!:scared1: Let us know what happens, please. Perhaps it was the pool that did it, those placed are a breeding ground for germs & such...I do hope she's ok!

Howard - On my way over to the other thread to read your weekend report on MCM. Rest up for Philly & good luck on those 5 tonight popcorn:: .

Hi to all you others.

Have I mentioned that I just don't run anymore? Taking Tues. & Weds. off seemed like a good idea...I should run this afternoon, huh? Hmmm.....While trying to decide whether to do the 1/2 or my scheduled LR, my mom reminded me that she & my 2 sisters & of course, myself, had made plans "a long time ago" to go into NYC on Sat. To do what? who the heck knows. Great.:sad2:

reading about all of these 20 mile runs makes me glad I'm doing only the 1/2 in Philly.. I'm ignoring the fact that I'll be doing the WDW full in Jan, procrastination is a great thing;)

I'll add my congrats to the Phillies-- my whole office seems to be wearing Phillies gear today, I'm the odd man out with a more Halloween based shirt :confused3

Colleen - I hope everything is ok with your DD. Please do let us know how it goes. I'll be thinking of you.

Lou - I hope you got to enjoy your celebration last night!

Mike - Yeah, I think 20 miles 5 days after a marathon sounds a bit much.

No running for me today. I have 10 tomorrow - my last scheduled double digit before work run!:cool1:

Jodi - Thanks for the congrats! I'm not sure how this will affect the marathon other than the fact you'll have plenty of people wearing Phillies red this year (including me) instead of Eagles green. You and I can run together because we are following the same training plan.

Colleen - Today is the first day in 15 years where people from Philly can say or hear the name "Joe Carter". Nicole and I actually first started dating back in 1993 and watched that Joe Carter home run together. She didn't even break up with me.

Howard - No vandilism to report from me. It's a city with over 1 million people so you are bound to have a few idiots (I saw my share of them too.). I will absolutely be at the parade with entire family in tow. Lou Sr, Lou Jr, and Lou III will all be there just like we were at the game when the Phils clinched the division in September. Are you guys going?

Nicole and I took the kids into the city last night to watch the game at my sister's house just off of South Street. For those of you not familiar with Philly, South Street is a place that can be bizarre on a normal night. After the game we walked from 2nd & South to Broad Street. Most eveyone we saw were just insane happy. Broad Street was totally INSANE. All you could see were people screaming for what looked like miles. Broad Street looked more like Bourbon Street. You had a few women who felt the need to expose themselves and a few men who thought climbing up traffic signals was the thing to do. Other than that I didn't see any of the vandilism reported. The police really had things under control from what I could see.

I'm thinking I may just run 10 miles today. Why not? Do you think I am going to work?

Lou

I thought maybe they'd give me a free beer somewhere along the course if I told them I cheered Philly on :lmao: . Your trip along Broad St. sounds like a blast! I LOVE when people go berserk over such things, I can be like that myself!:rolleyes1 Make sure & take lots of pictures & some video of you, your dad & your boy @ the parade...it doesn't get ANY better than that!:thumbsup2 DEFINITELY go run 10 miles, can I have some of them transferred over to my running "account", please. Hey, I just thought of something, what if I were to wear a big 'ol TB Rays jersey @ the marathon???? What could happen?

Jodi - You can probably expect to see beer on the course at a few places. Last year there was a beer stand right when you entered Main Street around Mile 18.5. You'll be fine with a Rays shirt. I would discourage you from wearing anything from New York, Boston, or Washington. ;) You minus well paint a bulls eye on your back. We'll get a beer after the race! I may post a video on YouTube of last night later today (stay tuned).

OK, I'll wear my Yankees cap!!! Beer after the race???? Are you kidding me?:rotfl2: I've got a train to catch!

Hey Everyone: Just a quick post - have I really not posted here at all this week? Boy, I thought I did. I've been on the exercise bike. Yesterday I ran 2 miles on the TM, and today I ran ~2.5 outside. My hip's feeling OK. We'll see how it holds up for 10 miles on Saturday.

Jodi- They had beer after the MCM too. It was kind of neat to drink a beer at noon after running the marathon.

Lou- YAY Phillies! I have to say I was rooting for them for you. But, is anyone going to mention the cold? Is that what we're in for in 3 weeks in Philly? Seriously, did we know it was going to be this cold?

OK, hi everyone else! I really gotta run. I need to leave work a little early to go carve pumpkins.

Lou- YAY Phillies! I have to say I was rooting for them for you. But, is anyone going to mention the cold? Is that what we're in for in 3 weeks in Philly? Seriously, did we know it was going to be this cold?

Dave - To be honest, it really didn't feel that cold last night. I think we'll be fine in terms of temperature. I'd expect 40's but it could get into the 30's when we start. Either way I am not bothered by cold as much as rain. If we get rain like we had this week we are in trouble. Last year it drizzled the entire race and I never felt right. Rain would bother me a lot more than cold.

Oh MY, don't mention the R-word. Dodo doesn't do rain; I'll be scream-teaming if the weather turns foul!;)

Oh, that make's me feel better Lou. That's OK, we'll have a good time regardless.

Lou~ No we won't be heading to the parade. From what I hear it will be jam packed along the route and the event at or near the sports complex too. We will leave the space to real Phiadelphia Diehard Fans who deserve to enjoy this. It is sad that the crazy people/idiots make things that are positive, a negative and make it an excuse to destroy property. I think the City of Philadelphia is on the ball for the parade and it will be well policed. Have a great time and stay safe.

I went out for my 5 miler after work tonight. It was cold (in the low 50's or high 40's) and just getting dark when I started out. During the run I felt the familiar muscle groups that I used during the MCM on Sunday. I thought of words like - ouch, boy those are tight and I'm glad its only 5 miles tonight. :lmao:

Here are the stats from my run tonight, my first since MCM:

Miles: 5.03
Time: 42:56
Pace: 8:33

Splits: 8:44, 8:37, 8:25, 8:29, and 8:27.

I am going to look at my schedule tonight and devise a training plan to take me up to the Philadelphia Marathon.

Hi to all of my BOTTY friends - Mike, Jodi, Sara, Colleen, Dave, Chester, Steve, Jen and Cindy!

:grouphug:

Howard

Wow...not exactly sure how to take those comments.
Sorry Lou. I should've added more smiley faces. It was all meant in fun. My apologies if it came off as mean spirited.

Do enjoy the celebration with your family. It's great that you can all share the fun together. Did you get your 10 miles in today?

Mike, sore quads? Why would you have sore quads after lollygagging the last 6 miles of you marathon.:rolleyes1
You know, that's seriously what I thought.:confused3
Is your DD feeling any better?

Dave - Good to see you were able to run some without any problems.

Jodi - So, is the the half, 20, or NYC? Oh wait, is it the half or NYC? I already know about the 20.

Howard - Fine effort for your first run back.

Cindy - Your last double digit before work? What the heck are you going to do with all the extra time? Take up needle point or something?

Jen - I didn't know you were doing the full in January. Are you following a training plan of some sort?

Nothing to report for me. I'll try to get something in tomorrow but may be tough with work, sleep, Halloween and such.
