Good Morning All!

Just a quick fly-by; I"ll be out of town for a few days playing Mr. Fix-it for a laundry list of projects that need to be addressed at my mother's house.

Of course, I have two brothers-in-law that live in the same city as my mother, but if you placed a bunny, a hammer, and a Pop Tart on a table I seriously doubt if they would know which one to use to pound a nail (which could get messy if they chose the poor bunny.)

Have a great weekend everyone; I'll check in Sunday night.

Colleen - Enjoy the life of leisure (yes, I am being sarcastic) as long as you can.

:rotfl: Mike, actually, I do feel like I live a life of luxury. I LOVE being a stay at home mom, getting the kids to their music lessons, swim team practices, Scouts and being there when they need me. We were finishing up breakfast this morning and DD8 came and sat on my lap. She said, "Mommy, I just need you to hold me for a minute." She cuddled right in and I was SO glad I was there for her.

I REALLY feel guilty that I don't contribute more financially to the family. DH insists that that is hogwash, but I still can't help feeling I should be doing more. I keep thinking about how the 'kid' years are flying by. My son will be 11 next week, his middle school and high school years will fly by and he will be gone off to college. I don't want to miss these next few years.

Anyway, enough of that gobbily-goop!

What is everyone doing for the long weekend?

:rotfl: Steve, good luck with that!

And what's the deal with this voodoo witchcraft health food store crap?? If it hurts bad enough to swear like a sailor take some real drugs!

I expect no less from a cynical, drug-pushing pharmacist who's "in bed" with every drug manufacturerer in the world. Thing is, being the weirdo, dope studying freak you are, I KNOW you know that the homeopathic crap works. You're just an evil corporate, $ laundering BOT!:rolleyes1 Nice job on the running, BTW....:rotfl: What's up next for you??? Another marathon somewhere???:scared1:

Theta - Just enjoy your mommy life already!! You deserve it - teachers are so under-rated & paid way too little. Mow your lawn & Chillax:goodvibes. What are your big plans with your little tykes this summer anyway??

Steve - Another nice, long, relaxing weekend for you, eh?? . How's your achilles thing? "See you" Sunday night!

Cindy - How PUMPED are you for San Diego?? :woohoo: :dance3: You guys are gonna have such a blast!!

Dave - What, your blisters hurt so bad you can't bear to remember the P&P party & tell us how it was??;)

I ran 3 miles yesterday & while the ankle swelled a little bit more, there was no pain  . Green light for a little more running this afternoon.

TOE REPORT: Last night I peeled all sorts of creepy stuff off of my blood blister toe (think BrundleFly) & my other toe...which, I found out, is going to lose its nail :scared1: . The thing's hanging on for dear life, with only strands of yellowed skin holding it on :thumbsup2 :rotfl2: . Do I just let if fall off or help it along?

:scared: Where is the vomiting emoticon when a girl needs it!

BTW, Jodi, I 'lunched with the ladies' today!!

Steve - Sounds like you'll be having a lot of fun this weekend. I loved the analogy of the brother in laws. I think I may be one of those brother in laws. However, I like to play that I can't do anything that way my other, more handy, relatives get to do all the fix up work at the in laws.

Colleen - Don't complain about wanting to be home. Isn't that the way it used to be...before big houses, daycare, and SUV's became so popular? I think you're kids will appreciate that they got this much time with you later.

Jodi - Uhh...the Toe Report was interesting. I think Runners World refers to your condition as Civil War feet. Actually, I may have heard that years ago on Howard Stern. I can't make fun because I'm going to be wearing sneakers a lot myself this summer.

Hello to all I missed! I'm just too lazy (actually busy) to read beyond this page.

Managed to get in 12 miles in Philly this AM. Ran it at a 8:40 pace. I figured I would try to get used to this pace as that is what I would love to run at Philly. I did have a bit of a problem today. My groin pull injury from the Fall came back. I think my problem is weak stomach muscles which contributes to this. Plus I don't stretch as much as I should. I feel better now but the last 2 miles and the walk back to my car were rough. I was one misstep from a lot of pain.

Headed to Baltimore tomorrow for a day with my familia. Tomorrow we head over to BIL's and SIL's for a pool party. They live a mile from my house so I get to enjoy their pool all summer and not have to deal with the water/electric bills or maintenance.

Have a great weekend everyone!!!!!!!!

Lou

Ah, the good old days. Back when golf outings, fancy dinners, and other useful freebies were the norm. Now we're lucky to get some bagels and a pen :confused3 .

I've got no races on tap in the near future. What I really need is a half (or a full I guess) close to home in late July but it's just too dang hot then for sensible people to run. I guess I'll just have to taper back on the eating until the fall or I'm likely to explode.

Thanks for the visual, BTW! That would likely cure any foot fetish minded folks reading along.

Colleen - Take all the mom time you can get while you're able. There will alway be time to work. They won't always want to sit on your lap.

Steve - Have fun playing Mr. Handyman.

Lou - Nice job on the 12 miles but be careful with the injury. Now is a good time to rest it a bit. And congrats on scoring a work/cost free pool! Sweet.

Nothing for me to report. Maybe I'll get a few miles in sometime in the next day or two.

How Now My Bots!!

Ahhhhh, Memorial Day Weekend. 3 blissful days of yardwork, making gross cole slaw dishes for family gatherings & taking out 2nd mortgages to fill up the tank to get to your favorite picnic/cookout destination!

Mike - When I was a medic I remember those drug reps. sweeping into the ERs once every 2 weeks with lunch spreads, pens, drinks (we would pilfer through everything in the breakroom :rolleyes1 ) & all sorts of unmentionables. I didn't realize that you pharmacists were in on it....but how could you NOT be, you were the guys doling the stuff out!:lmao: All those perks are gone now, eh? Sign 'o the times, dude.

Lou - Ooh, oooh!! Do we have another Howard Stern fan in our midst?? Man, I miss Howard something awful. Do you have him on Sirius?? I've often thought of subscribing, but am not sure that I will enjoy the show without their need to find words to substitute swearing with. Did you hear that Kenneth Keith Callenbach died? Oops, sorry for the hijacking...:thumbsup2 nice 12 miles run...no Jodistop issues either? :woohoo: Easy on the groin, there, Skippy. Like Mikey said, with nothing to really train for right now, take a break.

Colleen - Any walking? Do any of your fellow hens walk? Maybe you should recruit them...this way you won't have to share a room with strange men when you come to these WDW events solo :rolleyes1 ;) .

I ran 4 on Friday, but Sat. a.m. brought pain back to the ankle...in a completely different area. So I've resolved to actually wait this time until the swelling goes down completely & that area actually LOOKS like an ankle again. Followed Bruce on my bike while he ran today & that's it. Ho hum....I feel myself slipping into an organic-chocolate induced depression that will have me weighing 5 pounds more than when the weekend began...:yay:

Hello everyone and Happy Memorial Day (US)!!!

I ran in the Spring Lake 5 run yesterday morning in Spring Lake, New Jersey. It is the largest race of its kind (5 miler) on the East coast I am told. The race had 3,438 men and 3,438 women participants according to the results.

I ran it in 48:07 for an overall pace of 9:37. Not too good, but considering I haven't trained just yet, I am satisfied.

I have come to the realization that I have a ways to go to be close to where I want to be for the MCM in October. I begin my training matrix this week!

Happy training! I hope everyone is enjoying the long weekend!

:grouphug:

Good Morning,

Checking in before we have to start prepping our assigned side dishes to shlep to the required Memorial Day Cookout :stir: .

Colleen: You are so right; the kids seem to grow up way too fast. Toss out the guilt at being home. Your children are going to appreciate you being around in ways they may not even realize until years down the road. There is plenty of time for that whole "make money thingy" later when the kids are older.

Jodi: I tried to catch up with everything in your post, but I had to skip ahead a bit after reading "creepy (toe) stuff..." :scared:

Lou: Nice pace on the 12-miler. I really have to make a point in seeing you and Mike at the Philly Marathon start, since you guys will be fading into the distance in front of me as soon as the gun goes off. Enjoy the pool and take care of that injury.

Mike: I will confess: I have been known to frequent my local Voodo Witchcraft Health Food Store on occasion (not just for the organic Pacific Northwest beer). There is some good stuff in there if you just look beyond the rack of hemp clothing.

Howard: Congrats on the race and on being back in the saddle...or back in the running shoes...or back on the roads; you get my drift.

My handyman work went well. On Saturday I shoveled for 9.5 hours; I had to dig a 2-foot deep trench near the foundation of my mother's house and then fill it and grade the yard with 5 yards of crushed stone. I actually wasn't too sore yesterday, thanks in part to a 1-hour soak in epsom salts.

The achilles is still bad, despite doing some PT stuff for it. I'm going to hit the bike later today.

Hello to everyone else! have a great day.

Mike - I'm looking for something to run this summer too. I'm hoping to find some mid distance races down the shore I can do.

Jodi - I first listened to Stern back in 1989 when he was just on in NYC and Philly. I remember going to the funeral ceremony he had for John DiBella in Philly back in 1991. I haven't gone the satellite radio route yet. Can't seem to justify spending $$$ on radio. I think Kenneth Keith Kallenbach just died in a prison a few weeks ago. No JodiStops on the 12 mile run. I didn't have any casino bathrooms as a fall back on this run.

Howard - Nice job on the 5-mile race. I'll have to mark that race down for 2009.

Steve - Sounds like you had fun digging trenched this weekend. I'm not sure if shoveling was the best thing for the achilles but you probably earned plenty of points with mom. I hope you had fun the rest of the weekend.

Sara - How are you doing? How's the knee feel now?

Colleen, Chester, and others - HI!

Back to the grind stone today. I have a lot of business to deal with over the the next few weeks that has me a bit anxious. Hopefully running here and there will calm the nerves.

Got in a 9-mile bike ride on Sunday and 4-mile run yesterday. The groin injury doesn't seem as bad as I first thought. I think I just need to stretch more.

Have a nice week!

Lou

Good morning! I hope everyone had a nice long weekend. I can't believe I'm running a marathon on Sunday!

Hi All

Cathy - You'll do fine in CA...so will Cindy!:rotfl2: Your body's so use to the routine now...

I'm slowing sinking into the non-running abyss.....heeeelp!:worried:

You are ready for it!::yes::

I hope so! 26.2 miles seems really, really far. I really don't like the fact that I did a 3 week taper. I feel like I haven't run long in ages. I guess I'm well rested :confused3 I think I'm going to have to try a 2 week taper for Philly.

I'm slowing sinking into the non-running abyss.....heeeelp!:worried:

You need a race for motivation. Hopefully you'll get into the NY half! Matt and I took too long and now all the Anthony Travel guaranteed entries without a package are gone (and the packages are ridiculous - there's no way I'm paying that much money). So we're taking our chances on the lottery too. I guess we'll find out in a few days.

Good morning! I hope everyone had a nice long weekend. I can't believe I'm running a marathon on Sunday!

Cindy - I forgot to say hi to you in my last post. Sorry about that. My brain is fried today.

You must be going nuts now. San Diego is going to be awesome. Enjoy your time out west and good luck!!!

Lou

http://www.runwashington.com/other/lee02list.html

It's a 20k and not a half and its a little later than the end of July, but have you heard of the race above? I thought about doing it last year. It will likely be too dang hot for sensible people to run, but I think it's a pretty popular race, so there must be lots of non-sensible people :rolleyes1

Lou - thanks, and yes, I think I am going a little nuts. I was really busy all weekend, which was good, but I think today through Thursday at work is going to be a bit rough.
