Ok, this is weird. My dad just called me and asked me what I wanted. I said I don't know, what does he mean? He said that he had just gotten a call from my house. I said, no, I haven't used the phone all day. In fact, it was still in the charger until he called. I would just say OK, kinda weird, but this is the 3rd time this has happened to me. The first time was a while ago, we got a call at 2 a.m. from a very angry person who wanted to know why we called. My DH and I were sound asleep, my DD was at a friend's house. I told her no one had called her, maybe she called the wrong number? So she read the number off of her caller ID, and it was our number! I was baffled. I apologized, but what can I do? It happened a few months later with someone else, but it was in the afternoon. This is really weird, should I call the phone company? And if I do, will they think I'm insane, or not believe me when I say those calls were not placed from me?

HELP!!!

That is really strange. I probably would call the phone company and see if they have any ideas.

Do you have a cordless phone? Maybe it needs to be replaced.

I was going to say...do you live in FL? LOL! I see you are only 2 hours from WDW. I'm in FL also and have had trouble with my phones. And it's not a cordless! A few years ago I could hear another conversation in the background as I was talking to someone. This happened at least twice, and the person I was talking to could not hear another conversation. I called the phone company that time and told them. They told me they don't have party lines.

Just last week the phone rang. I had the recorder on and was screening calls. First I hear a man's voice say...hello! Then I heard a woman's voice say...hello! W E I R D !!!!! Then both of them hung up. I think FL's phone lines are VERY messed up!

Try dialing your number, from your home phone. If someone answers, confirm the number you dialed.
We had a situation last year, asked for a second number (line was already installed) for the computer. We started experiencing trouble with busy signals when we'd dial up to earthlink. I called the number for the new line and someone answered.
I called MCI, my local phone company at the time and explained the problem. It was fixed.
Some time later I started getting long distance bills from AT&T, not my long distance provider. I called them to dispute the charges, since the this number is connected to a PC and doesn't make long distance calls. All of the calls were to the Philadelphia regaion, where I know no one. I also got a bill from one of the 10-10 companies. they're based in Florida and they always answered in Spanish first. I don't speak any Spanish and got those bills cleared from my name and number as well.
Finally we are on cable internet and I don't have that problem anymore.

It sounds like you have something similar going on. Whats weird is that the calls are being placed to people you know. Has anyone other than you or your family had access to your phone? what about the outside telecommunications box (it's gray)? All someone would need to do is plug in a telephone and they could make calls.

No matter, call you phone company asap.

You need to contact you local phone service provider. This is very likely caused by a malfunction of the continuous redial function or last call return function that some service providers support. It may be related to power fluxuations in the switch site or not-telephone switches are computers these days and therefore prone to do weird stuff just like any computer.

an irate women called at 7 a.m. asking why I had just called her. I'm in NJ, she's in RI. I know NO ONE there.

Thanks everyone....I think I will call the phone company :)

I live in PA and when we first moved here 10years ago we kept getting a wrong number. Finally the man asked what my name was, it turns out it was our new neighbor up the street. He was on a business trip overseas and trying to call his wife but kept getting our house! I walked up to their house at 11pm at night (it is very dark and wooded around here) and pounded and pounded on the door. His wife would not answer and can't say I blame her, so I'm yelling through the door that I'm the new neighbor and your DH called from Yugoslovia and everything is ok!! Finally she opens up and finds the whole story hard to believe! We are good friends now and it has never happened again.

Believe it or not I had a similar thing happen two years ago. In each case the call was to 911. The second time the person that called back asked if I had a portable phone. I told her yes and she said it is pretty common when the batteries are going bad. I though "Yeah... Right". My phone was fairly new. But I went out and replaced the battery. I hadn't had a problem since.
