I am not one to see a movie over and over again, but I have seen this movie twice since Christmas and it is fabulous! I am obsessed! Two very enthusiastic thumbs up!!!!

That's what I wanted to hear!! Me and the fiance are taking a trip to the 2:40 show tomorrow. I CAN'T WAIT!! I love that show! :Pinkbounc

For those that dont know the storyline...

my ds and his girlfriend know nothing, I got the movie CD for Christmas (and I've seen then musical downtown Chicago, and Milwaukee... so I have the Broadway CD!!) I thought they should have a background, there are so many themes that are going on!!

anyway, thought I'd post just in case anyone stopping in isnt familiar!!

I saw the movie a few days ago and loved it as well. It seems to explain the story a little better than the stage version. I have seen the stage version twice in Londons West End and am not sure which I prefer (although I loved the movie I love live theatre too.) I found it really hard not to sing along with all the songs!!

I can't wait to see it. I have close personal ties with the musical The Phantom Of The Opera.

I've been wanting to see this but haven't had the chance. I'm glad to hear it's such a great film.

This I think is one movie that needs to be seen on a big screen, even if the story and cast isn't as strong as the stage production.

I plan on watching it when it opens nationwide in January.

I don't intend to see this film, as I dislike Lord Lloyd Webber's musicals....but I've seen stills, and I think Emmy Rossum is very beautiful. I think she looks a little like Belle, and I think she could play that character on stage. princess:

I saw it on Saturday. It was Phantastic!!! :) I'm going to see the play for the 2nd time in Boston in April. Can't wait!

We saw it the day after Christmas - I thought it was very good. I could have done without Minnie Driver, but that's just me. :)

we went and saw it the day after christmas as well!! LOVED it!!!! i actually like it better than the stage version...but i've only seen that once when they came through indianapolis earlier this month. we went and purchased the soundtrack right after the movie and it's been playing nonstop in our house!! can't wait to have this on DVD!! i thought it was cast perfectly...minnie driver's character was a tad annoying, but she's supposed to be. i love emmy rossum...her voice is amazing...

Saw this movie about 3 weeks ago - absolutely loved it! Hope to see the stage production one day :D

Would a mature 8 yr old girl who adores musical theater be able to sit through it?

It is long. But if she has a history of being able to sit through longer movies, I say yes. My 13 yo boy really enjoyed it, which actually surprised me.

which means we average folk are sure to love it...
That's why I'm glad to see "real people" liking it. What do critics know?
Looking forward to seeing it!

I've seen the stage production on Broadway a few times, so I am afraid I will be disappointed, but we plan to see it New Year's Eve. Hope it is great, as I can't get up to NYC to see it as frequently as I'd like.

Saw the movie last night. It was BEAUTIFUL! I can't wait to purchase the DVD when it comes out.
