Can anyone clear this up for me and my husband...?
When I took my Husband to DLP for his first Disney experience we went on Phantom Manor. Every few minutes the ride stopped and said something like 'sorry your ride has been interrupted the ghouls have been playing with your ride...etc etc' I said this ride is crap everytime I've been on this ride its broken down'
He then laughed his head off saying that was part of the ride.. I don't agree.
Who is right? Does Phantom Manor always stop with that message as part of the haunted effect or is it crap in the sense that it always experiences difficulties?
Please help....

Its often as they stop the ride to let people with disabilities get on or people struggling with the moving walkway

It just kept stopping the last time we were there (last October) and it did every few seconds on the Halloween soiree, the other times we had been there the whole ride had been smooth and with no stops.
IMO the frequent stops spoil my fun :sad2:

I love it when you get to do Phantom Manor without all the stops, it's one of my favourite rides

Mostly the stops do not happen and the ride progresses smoothly. When a guest with disabilities gets on/off or when there is a technical difficulty, then the 'playful spooks have interrupted your ride' recording plays.

You must have been unlucky to have had so many stops. I wouldn't have said your husband was right, as such. The stops are not really part of the ride.

I've been lucky too, it's only happened a couple of times to us, mostly we have ridden it without any stops. :hmghost:

I always thought it was for disabled guests to get on and off too but it only ever bothered me when the car stopped right next to the door with the knocker knocking on its own! Bit scary!! :scared1:
I remember the first time I went on a young CM stood on the back of our car and jumped out on us when it stopped, it was sooo funny after I'd started breathing again!!!!

I have to admit to causing one stop on Tuesday of last week :rolleyes1 .

For the first, and only time, I struggled to get off of the ride with Kacee, Blankie and Mickey in tow and they had to stop it before I ran out of walkway.

The scary dog in the graveyard is where it stops for me if it does stop. He's horrid

CMs will also stop the ride if guests are spotted not sitting in their doom buggy :thumbsup2

Yes - there's a load of pressure sensitive mats along both sides of the track. If somebody climbs out and steps on one, then they'll stop the ride.

I'm fairly sure that the mats are uniquely numbered as well, so they can see where people get out and also where they're moving.

This does have it's downsides though, as we had an incident in January where something fairly light must have been dropped onto them as we were stopped for ages and had CMs come look around where we were, but no guests ever went past. They did pick something up from one of the mats though :thumbsup2
