I vividly remember (in 1989) walking around Mickey's Birthdayland and it being sooo crowded. So my mama suggested we try the "petting zoo". It was in a small barnyard area and I can see it like it was yesterday. One of my fondest childhood memories.

Is the petting zoo still around? I'm 26 now, but you know WDW - you feel like a kid again! I'm hoping hoping hoping that it's still around...

There is a petting zoo at Fort Wilderness Campground...have NO idea what Mickey's Birhtdayland...sorry.

Hello,
Well, I've never heard of Birthdayland, but there is a petting zoo at the Fort Wilderness Resort. We've been to it a few times while waiting for the Hoop De Doo Review to start. It's a lot of fun, especially for the under 7-set, and there are pony rides available (for a small fee, I think).

Definitely one of the "overlooked attractions" in my opinion!

Have a great trip!

Susan

There is a SMALL petting zoo at animal kingdom, in conservation station (or whatever they call it nowadays)

That's kinda saddening. Oh well, it seemed pretty old school when I was little. I didn't figure it was still around.

A new petting zoo sounds OK... hope I'm not the only person over 10!!!

Mickey's Birthdayland was a "land" past Fantasyland, past the Mad Teacups. There were little houses and stuff... and a birthday show where the characters made an exploding cake. I'm guessing it was where "Toon Town Fair" is now. Kinda in the Northeast corner?

Yes, Mickey's Birthday land changed to Mickey's Starland and is now the Toontown fair. I remember the petting zoo. They even had a cow with black spots in the shape of Mickey. I have the picture somewhere. The petting zoo is long gone. Sorry.

The cow was named Minnie Moo. When Grandma Duck's petting zoo at Mickey's Birthdayland was closed, she moved to the Fort Wilderness petting zoo, and remained there for many years. I think she passed on three or four years ago.

::MickeyMo Yep, I remember that Petting Zoo. LOL I remember the Mickey Cow as well. The area was located right about where Goofy's Barnstormer now sits. I think it was 1991 or 1994 when I saw it. :sunny:
