Hi all,we recently adopted a cat. She will be 7 months old in October '05 when we visit WDW. We will be staying at Pop Century. Does WDW resorts allow pets in rooms? We've seen kennels at the various parks but can find any info if pets can stay at resorts. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

It is difficult to leave our furry friends behind I know but only service dogs are allowed in the rooms at WDW as far as I know. We have never used any of the Disney kennels but I'm sure someone here at the Dis can provide you with the information you need. Good luck finding the perfect home away from home for her.

Only service animals, like seeing eye dogs, are welcome at WDW resorts. All other animals must be boarded at a kennel. Sorry. Maggie

huey578 ~ Here's the answer that was on AllEarsNet...

"None of the hotels on Disney property accept pets unless the pet is a service animal. Fort Wilderness Campground has several pet-friendly camping loops. In addition, each of the four main Disney theme parks and Fort Wilderness has a kennel providing doggy and kitty daycare for $6 per day. Overnight boarding is available at all of WDW's five kennels for $11 per night and $9 per night for Disney Resort guests' pets. (Prices, hours and services subject to change.) For more kennel information, call 407-824-6568. Don't forget to bring Fido's or Snowball's proof of vaccination--Florida law requires it."

I know that I had read somewhere else (but can't remember where - I think it was a disney site) that when boarding overnight you need to visit your pet and dogs must be walked two or three times per day by owners. The impression I got from what I read was that nobody is going to be there to pamper your pet. :worried: Our "furry human" is used to being pampered when he stays at the "spa" (our code word for the vet/boarding ;) so we leave him there when we visit WDW!

If you wouldn't want to board your pet, you could always go to Fort Wilderness - there are some of the loops in the camping area that allow pets.

Pets are allowed and welcome at the Loews Hotels at Universal Studios. They even have their own room service menu. :goodvibes

I don't know about your cat, but mine would rather stay home, where she's comfortable. She hates cars and doesn't like to be anywhere other than our house. :cat:

Your cat may not like being in a kennel. It seems that many more dog people board than cat people. My cats don't care for dogs, and get stressed when kept in a cage for long periods surrounded by lots of dogs.

You might want to consider leaving your baby kitty at home.
Call the vet, and ask if any of the staff does pet sitting. If your vet doesn't have a potential sitter, call around. Of course if you know the staff you might trust them more.
Just make sure to ask what kind of babysitting they do. Some people only do drop ins, so make sure you find out how many times per day they show up. Do they actually play with the pet, or just fill bowls, check box and leave. SOme people will do the stay over, stay at your house (so they are house sitters/ pet watchers) . We prefer this because we have cats who take meds.
Might want to request a meeting, before the actual babysitting, get referrals, and call the referrals.

Another alternative is another pet lover in your neighborhood.
If you have a trusted family member who could either check-in or baby sit might work out as well.
