We are going to rent a unit and will have our small dog with us and want to know if there are any kennels in close proximity to the Beach Club that we could put our pooch as I'm sure there is a no pet rule :)
Cheers,
Grumbo

1) WDW Kennels:
. . . Epcot
. . . Disney-MGM Studios
. . . Animal Kingdom
. . . Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC)
. . . Fort Wilderness

2) Cost is $11.00 per night (incl food)
3) Bring the pet's vaccination papers with you,

You are right, no pets are permitted at the resorts.

Here's a link to information on the WDW kennels.

Kennels

the easiest kennel to get to from the BC is the Studios - you take a boat or walk and you are there - (the boat can be handed when you are tired)

however they don't have alot room for walking your pet

Epcot you can also walk to - but you need to go through Epcot so you would need to use a pass - or you get in your car and drive to the front....

Epcot kennel has lots of room to walk.

bring your own food, toys, blankets - anything that would make your pet more comfortable.

epcot will walk your pet for $2.50 per walk per day.

I don't use that service - Spicey (who is 17 years old and been going to WDW since he was 3 months) - I just don't trust others to take as good of care of him as I do - silly!

but I don't have any children or a husband - so Spicey gets all the attention.....

with dogs if they put your dog in a small cage and you want a bigger one - say so immediately!!!!

sometimes they have put dogs in the cat kennel - Spicey doesn't mind dog his size or smaller - bigger dogs no - So when they try that and I am there - I make sure that they attendent sees the sign even if I have to point it out several times -

a barking dog - no!!!

now there are list of outside kennels that you bring your pet too - if you don't care about visiting them when you are there.

WDW kennels needs you to visit your pet at least twice a day - if that is too much trouble then use an outside kennel - there are several that are top notch.

my problem with them is Spicey loves a night walk - the outside kennels generally close at 5:00pm - it is hardly dark then - so that won't work for him.

here is a site for outside kennel
http://www.abka.org/

you don't have join - just click on member kennels (in red in the letter) - then pick - WDW is in Lake Buena Vista - the closet city in Kissimmee, and then of course there is Orlando.

make sure your pet is up to date on his shots

if an outside kennel works for you then go with it - it will be alot less work for you - just depends upon what you want.

We plan to take our Chocolate Lab with us this summer when we stay at OKW for 16 days (she will board here at home when we go in April).

What would be the most convenient kennel for us? Does anyone know the hours of operation and when you must come to walk your dog?? "Bella" likes an early morning walk (5-6 am)!!

Thanks.......................and should I be making her reservations now??

Thanks again.......

Hello!
Just thought I would share some Disney information with you.
I work part time with the "Disney Wilderness Adventures" program. We are stationed out of the Fort Wilderness Kennel.
First of all the people there at the Kennel are very nice and will take good care of your pet...there is ample grass near the building to take a nice walk and the view isn't bad either as there are horse stables just beyond the fence you can watch as you walk the dog.
Second.....the DO NOT take reservations for pets. The kennels are on a first come first serve basis and space is limited. If one kennel is full when you arrive they will direct you to one of the other kennels. The workers there have told me that they have never seen all 5 kennels be full simultaneously.....there should be room in one of them at least. When I have worked I have always seen cages available, except during the busy Christmas season. (Alot of folks winter here in Florida and park their RVs at the Fort.)
If you are worried about space you should just phone the kennels first before driving there to drop off your dog.
I have a direct phone line you can call for the Fort Wilderness Kennel: 407-824-2734.

I hope this was helpful! Have a great trip!

Thanks for the information. I am a little bit nervous now!! What if the only time the kennels fill is when I have my "Bella" with me!! YIKES!!

Is the Ft. Wilderness kennels the closest to OKW. Where are the other ones located (I recall seeing one near the road going towards Polynesian and GF) and is the other at Epcot?? Thanks.

Epcot and FW are both about the same distance from OKW - I prefer FW - more room to play and you don't have to watch the traffic (at Epcot you need to walk across where they kept those trams to get to one of the nice walking places). they something kept the trams going all the time - so some animals don't like that either. - Spicey just wants to go smell the entire thing ...

FW opens at 7:00am til 8:00pm

Epcot opens an hour before the park opens to an hour after it closes.

I have been told that Security guards will let you walk your pet when ever you want.

I only use the Security guards when I am leaving - we generally leave at 4:00am to go home.

both epcot and FW are very nice.

how much stuff are you bring for your animals if a big bag of food or blankets - then definitely FW.

Epcot also has kennel parking - but hey when you are carrying heavy stuff it is quite a walk.... Epcot kennel parking is over where AAA and handicapped parking is. FW generally has parking in front.

the one near the MK is at the T/T - this is a very big kennel - but it depends upons your animal - this is located by the big bus stop - so buses are coming and going all the time - if this upsets your animal no I would go some place else. both Epcot and FW are closer to OKW. I have never seem Epcot filled - FW was once - but that was when senior got to use the kennel free.....

Will they keep a guinea pig??
We are planning on going to Texas for the remainder of the summer after our June/July trip, and I doubt I can find a neighbor or friend to keep Pegasus that long!

yes they kept all animals - you need to bring your own escape prove cages - and if he doesn't want to be in with either the dogs or the cats - they have been know to kept birds with them - so they might be willing to kept your friend there - if he likes people.....
