Petite clothing stores?

Are there any good stores that cater to the petite? So many of my local department stores have a tiny petite section, full of more mature (think old lady) clothes. I don't know why they think short people want to dress frumpy! LOL

I searched the web and found a store called Petite Sophisticate, but the closest one is a couple of hours away. I may have to take a trip to check them out.

Ann Taylor Loft has great petites. Pricey, but you can find clearance and the clothing is great quality!

I also like Talbots - they are the only store I have found which does 90% of its collection in petite ...

I've never shopped there. I check out their website and the pants looked a bit on the high waisted side. I have one pretty close, I'll have to stop in there and try on some clothes.

Ann Taylor Loft has great petites. Pricey, but you can find clearance and the clothing is great quality!

I really can't stand Macy's and Kohl's petite sections. I've never been to Filene's Basement or Burlington. Somethine about the T.J. Maxx store I really don't like. Just something abiut it. Guess I'm picky.

I love Kohl's clothes for regular height people. If they would make the petite section larger then that would be great, but it seems like they choose the more drab clothes to carry in petite.

Boscov's petite section is the worst. Mostly sweat suits (not the nice ones, the ones 70 yo ladies wear to group activites in adult daycare!), mom jeans and t-shirts that say "I love my cats."

I have a hard time because I am petite but plus sized. All the petite size stores seem to think that if you are petite then you must be skinny. Petite means shorter body, shorter arms, shorter legs, smaller in stature......NOT necessarily thin.

I think Petite Sophisticate is closed--at least they all closed in our area. They were part of the Casual Corner chain. I loved those stores. Around here Macy's has the best Petite selection. Kohl's is hit or miss depending on which store you go to. There are 3 Kohl's stores within about 15 miles of our house and one has a great Petite department the other two have very little.

Actually, Anne Taylor and Anne Taylor Loft are a little pricey BUT they have great sales and deals. They also have outlet stores.

Just last week if you spent 50.00 you got TWO 25.00 gift cards. Of course to redeem them you needed to spend 50 for each 25 redeemed. You could use them in the outlets too. I must say I have gone to the outlet (Wrentham Ma) and gotten quite a few items . If you spend 75 at the outlet they give you 15% off also.

Check out J.Jill's petite clothes. They might work for you.

You don't have to tell me. I'm 4'7" and 137 lbs. With a good portion of my weight attributed to my chest.

Even petite pants are too long for me.

And almost everywhere I go the petite clothes are designed for middle aged yuppies and older ladies. Never anything for a woman in their 20's and 30's.

I guess the designers seem to think that not only are we skinny, but that we're of normal height all our lives until we reach middle age.

I need petite plus sized clothes and they are impossible to find. I am only 4"8" but wear a size 18 or 20. Not complaining though as I used to wear a 26-28
