I really enjoyed the review of ASMu. When I heard Pete and Walter's comments about the food court it hit me how I've never really had a bad meal at any of the food courts across property. In fact, I'd go as far to say most food courts have better food than most of the counter service locations across property There are a few exceptions.

If I remember right (I'm getting old so forgive me :) ), most of the main dishes at the food courts are prepared to order. I think that makes a huge difference. At the counter service locations the food is prepared mostly in bulk like an assembly line and served as you order it.

Sorry for the random babble, but when I heard about the food court the wheels in my head started spinning and I figured I'd better post about it before I started speeding. :)

Does anyone else feel like the food courts serve better food than most counter service locations across property?

I agree. Most of the food courts are better than counter service. Also, they have backs to the chairs in the food courts :rotfl:

With some exceptions, we have had pretty decent meals at the resort food courts vs. at the counter service locations. My exception is POR. My son and I had a horrible breakfast there on our first morning and afterward bought donuts and milk from the gift shop to have in the room the rest of the trip, I also had a made to order pasta dish at POR that was so awful I couldn't swallow the first bite and ended up throwing it all away. From reviews and other comments from posters on the restraunt boards, the food courts at the Value's tend to be better than what is at Mods or Deluxe resorts, which is really surprising.

I have only ate breakfast at the resort food courts - Mickey waffles with fruit and they are fresh off the waffle iron - not in a steam pan - much better than at buffet style breakfasts I have had on property.

The best pasta I've had on property was at the POR food court which is build your own.

Apart from one dodgy tuna sandwich at Caribbean beach about 10 years ago, I would agree with you!

It was that bad, I remember it still! Someone hadn't drained the brine out properly! Yuck that was salty!!

One of my favorite places to eat on property is the food court at Wilderness Lodge (I can't remember the name at the moment). The roast beef and blue cheese sandwich is especially wonderful, and everything else we have had there is very good.

Their name is Roaring Forks Snacks.

I also wanted to say I think the Contempo Cafe is one of the best counter service locations among the resorts and my favorite items is the Chicken Ceasar Salad, because unlike other locations all their Salads are made fresh each time you order them and are not pre-made, then kept in a fridge all day. Finally I also like the Spice Crusted Mahi Sandwich and had it not been for me seeing a picture of it on a topic in the restaurant board, I am not sure if I would have ever orderd it.

Our first trip ever we stayed at POP, and we were very surprised by how good the food actually was, especially for the price.

I have liked every food court with one exception: the food court at the AKL is not good IMHO. It is very small and the selections are very, very limited. They want you in their restaurants instead and that is very apparent.

I loved the cheesecake at POP and I would say my favorite food court so far is the one at Coronado. The choices and food were very good!

My first two trips to WDW I was lucky enough to stay at the Beach Club...which basically has NO food court--I don't really consider that market place thing a food court. So my last trip I stayed at Pop, and I'd heard all about the food court but didn't really get it. But once I got there, I totally did get how great it was and what a great thing, especially for families traveling with kids. I'm staying at Pop when I go back and I'm really looking forward to it. :thumbsup2

That is probably my biggest pet peeve about the DVC and deluxe resorts. No really viable quick service options. I have always thought All Star Music, Pop Century and Port Orleans Riverside had terrific food courts for quality and variety.

I keep thinking Disney fails when they open a new property (Bay Lake Tower, Kidani Village) without a food court. BLT is worse because there's NO food option there. With that many rooms coming online, doesn't anyone else think those guests need a place to eat, too?

Ok, better get off my soap box. ;)

Well when it comes to Bay Lake Tower anyone staying there doesn't have a far walk to the Contemporary when wanting to eat at the Contempo Cafe or the other restaurants located over there, so it's not like those guests will go hungry and anyone staying there should know their restaurant situation before staying there.

Glad to hear that ASMu has a great food court. I was disappointed in the breakfast served at POP when I was there in Oct and Dec. The waffles were good, but I didn't like the eggs. But this helped me to find my new favorite place to eat in the MK, Main St. bakery. They had a delicious egg, ham, and cheese sandwich.

I stayed at ASMu once and am in love with the chicken quesadillas. I don't know what it is- they're such a simple food but I really love them. So much so that when we stay at other resorts and they don't have them, I make my family go to ASMu just to have one lol
