Tall guy- easy to spot in crowds
short guy- 7 year old version of tall guy
photo gal- me

Saturday, April 16- definately more crowded!

We noticed that breakfast at Mara's this morning was more of an adventure. Lines were long for hot stuff-- we decided to go for already prepared items. Should have known that this was going to be a sign--

Went to catch the busto Animal Kingdom-- along with a lot of other people-- I was hoping that most were going to Blizzard Beach-- no such luck. Missed the awakening-- very bummed- but there was a lot to load onto the bus soooo.

Went into the park and tried to survive the people who were all running to catch Kilimanjaro Safaris. Managed to get there realatively unscathed (although I was knocked over by a man running with one of those double strollers). We looked at the line, the sign said a 5 minute wait which we could tell was a big lie, and decided to grab a fast pass for later. No problem.

Went to DinoLand because we had late (10:30a) reservations for the Breakfastsaurus. Went on Primeval Whirl and loved it. Short Guy wanted to ride again and since there wasn't a line the great CM let us just stay on and go around again. Off we went and went to TriceraTop spin. Same as Magic Carpets, but with dino theme. Great views of DinoLand from this ride. Did one more round of Primeval and went to the Boneyard to burn some energy. I have to say that I enjoyed this area much more this trip because it was early in the morning and still cool out-- we didn't roast like our last trip. Time for breakfast PS so off we went.

I have to say, I was a little dissapointed in this character breakfast. It seemed to aweful unorganized and crowded. We waited at over 30 minutes even with our PS. We finally got in and were seated. We ate 2 rounds of food and still no characters. They ran out of some items and we had to wait for them to be refilled. I think that they should split the characters between the two end of the building-- have 2 on one end and 2 working the other end-- they didn't, they had all the characters bunched together and so we watied about 40 minutes to see them. Short guy was getting bored and ready to go. I do have to say that our poor waiter was great, if not overworked- he had way too many tables to take care of. Because it was so crowded and full, not much time with the characters, but we were ready to get out of there anyway. Not bad, but not nearly as good as Crystal Palace.

Anyway-- caught Tarzan Rocks-- short guy loved all the skating! Wasn't so much into the dancing parts. Still a good, loud show to see. Not too girly for a 7 year old boy! Walked by Expedition Everest-- That sure looks like it is going to be a grat ride and the theming looks neat.

It was too cold still for Kali so went on up into Africa. Used our Fast Pass for Kilimanjaro (waits were posted at 40 min--looked more like 60 min wait) but with Fast Pass we only waited 15-20. Had a great CM driver who was funny and very nice to short guy. Again, loved the ride-- saw a lot of animals up close-- it was a cooler day so they were pretty active. Watched the parade-- still one of my favorites because of the animal puppets and great colors-- however it seemed shorter this time than I remember- who knows though.
Decided to do Wildlife Express train and Rafiki's Planet Watch -- we had never done this on our previous trips. For thos with children-- highly recomended. You will need to plan more time than we did. It was full of interactive computer games. My son got to see what was in owl poop (sounds totally gross, but it was fun!) Watched a small animal show with a ferret and a horned lizard. Even got to touch them. Photo Gal and short guy wanted to spend more time but Tall guy was really wanting to catch the Lion King- so off we went. Oh, I forgot to mention, going out to Rafiki's look for the new baby Rhino in the pens-- really cute! :teeth: Finished off our day with the Pangani trail-- the gorillas were out and active, but so were the crowds! Hit a Bugs Life-- stil love it! Then it was time to go.

Went back to the hotel. We grabbed some food from Mara and took it up to our room to enjoy. While sitting there, a fight broke out between the male Waterbuck and the Male Nyala. Anyway, the female Nyala got spooked and two of them managed to jump over the electric barriers. Oops. Then the male Nyala went crazy trying to figure out how to get his girls back. The girls were uninclined to be shocked and just stood against the building confused. Tall guy called down. Pretty soon, the keepers came out and it was quite an adventure watching them trying to get the females back into the Savanah. Anyway, it was fun to watch. The keepers said that it was rut season and the Waterbuck had been very naughty lately trying to gather all the female hoofstock (not only his waterbuck females, but the Nyala and other females as well) into his herd. Quite fun! The keepers were great to talk to and spent some time talking to us. :earboy2:

We had the same lackluster experience (and 45 min + wait for characters) at Breakfastasaurus on 4/6. Sad b/c we loved our first visit there in '04.

It's pretty cool that you get to view that type of animal interaction from the rooms! I want to stay there sooo bad!! :guilty:
