Pete, you opened the door, so I'm going to have to step through it.

First of all, people shouldn't complain about problems, unless they have a specific viable solution to fix them. I agree with you that it should always be a top priority for all governmental agencies to protect the welfare of children. I get it. With the down turn in the economy and the dyer financial condition of the Florida state government, difficult decisions have to be made. Everyone squeals like stuck pigs when difficult cuts have to be made. People always scream, don't cut here, cut somewhere else. Should they just cut state nursing home funding and push the seniors out of the front door? Should they start firing teachers, and maybe have a 1-75 ratio in each classroom? Should they stop maintaining the roads and let bridges collapse? I really doubt the people of Florida want a state like California, which taxes many businesses like Dreams Unlimited out of existence, and is on the brink of insolvency. California borrows 40,000,000 per day from us, the federal government just to survive. Unfortunately the financial situation in Florida is a direct result of what is happening nationally and even internationally. Also unfortunately, there are a plenty of complainers, though solutions are almost nonexistent.
