Pete, how did you loose all that weight?!

Perfectly stated Pete!
Congrats and thanks for the inspiration!

Thank you so much, Pete! You have helped many people with your post!

Not sure if Pete is reading this thread, but I am wondering why walk in the living room vs a tread mill? Just curious! :)

I walk between 3 and 4 miles per day. I hate walking on a tread mill. First, it bothers my legs and secondly it's boring. I'd rather get some
fresh air and sunshine.

Pete mentioned that his living room is large enough for walking laps and that he can't walk outside in that high humidity.

he can't walk outside in that high humidity.
I'll vouch for that, and I live in NJ. I've only been running for the past 3 years but when we were in Florida 2 years ago, I tried to run outside and I did it after dark thinking it wouldn't be as bad. Boy was I wrong. After that, I used the treadmill at the clubhouse instead. We did run the GKTW 5K a few weeks ago. That was at 8am in November and it was actually not too bad because the heat broke a bit that day but it was still somewhat uncomfortable.

Pete, is this your house?

If anyone is trying to balance out there diet I suggest reading. Secrets for a healthy diet by Monica Reinangel. It's an easy read and keeps things realistic and is actually based on science. Also the show Supersize VS Superskinny and Fat Families excellent motivation for eating well. Both shows are from the UK but you can find them on youtube.

I'm hoping to start school to be a dietitian in the next couple of years so I love weight loss stories.

If it provides some inspiration, then I'm happy for that
Indeed. When you first mentioned that you began walking around your living room, I put one and one together. I don't get to watch any of the Podcast shows live, but I do try to catch them on YouTube. So I found myself watching 2-2.5 hours a week of Podcasts sitting on my a$$ in my living room. That was one of the "ones". I have a treadmill in my basement. That was the other "one". I put them together, and went out and bought a new, inexpensive TV that had "Smart" features including YouTube, and hung it on the wall in front of my treadmill. Now, I will not allow myself to watch a Podcast unless I am on the treadmill. So it comes full circle. You lost weight by walking around your living room, and I am losing weight power walking on my treadmill watching you talk about losing weight. Or something like that. So thanks for the inspiration!

What an excellent idea, Jimmy!!

When we bought our treadmill about 10 years ago, we also bought a little TV/VCR combo to put right in front of that. Whenever I'd walk, I'd pop in a video to watch. Now, the TV is long gone and when I run on the treadmill, I bring down my wife's iPad and watch something on Netflix. I never get bored. In fact, sometimes I stay on there longer to see the end of a show.

Awesome motivation. When I was able to walk longer distances, I used to use Dunkin' Donuts iced coffee for a motivation. The DD was 1/2 a mile away from me - sometimes I'd walk UP the hill to get there, and DOWN the hill to get home. If it was too hot/humid, or I was tired, I still made myself at least walk DOWN the hill home (took the bus UP). Of course it was coffee with no sugar, and none of the "flavoring syrups" that have a lot of sugar too - usually just hazelnut iced, I did take cream in it. Might not work for anybody else, but it became my "thing" - and - hey - whatever works, right? Unfortunately I can no longer do those distances, 'cause it was really helping. Just an idea to throw out there, to be inventive, and find out what your motivation is!
