Pet peeve-- everyone wants free tickets!!

Here's my view, if we are going to have a falling out over this, they weren't worth having around. And for me, they would be for my family. If they feel I owe this to them, that is their problem, and I'd rather have a falling out over this now, than over something else later.

I have friends who are Club members, I have relatives who work at Disney, and I have relatives who hit the lottery. Saying "No" works well.

:thumbsup2

Life is too darn short to put up with people who can't honor your boundaries. Let them walk away if they.

I have a similar problem with living in Las Vegas. Friends and family all of sudden want to come visit (to save on a hotel room) and ask me to buy tickets to shows (because most give a locals discount). I try to be accomadating but when I'm not even invited to join in on the show or dinner, or whatever, I find it soooo irritating! Even if I don't actually want to go, I think it would be polite to offer the invitation, right?

Yes!! We live in Las Vegas and have the same problem. DH has some pretty decent connections through work but doesn't like to over use them. People seem to think we can get them an endless supply of "hook ups"! And I agree, if someone is getting you something like a show or dinner then it is polite to invite that person! Unless of course its a romantic type thing, then it would just be weird ;-) We always do something for the folks giving us deals. Our friend that had his cousin get us Disney tickets- we got him a bottle of wine that he likes and bought the CM lunch as a thank you.

Welcome to DISBoards.

There are some problems in life that get filed under "good problems to have." I think this is one if them. Enjoy the perk and just find your "blanket reply" for those who ask.

We jokingly call these "first world problems"!

A lot of times I think that can be an automatic response, ie someone gets a job at Dairy Queen "Hey can you get me free ice cream?". I would just simply say in a nice way like "No, I wish I could!" I'm sure if you had unlimited tickets you would be happy to give them to anyone who asked but it doesn't work like that! Good luck!

I think this is very true. Heck, if you told me, I'd probably laughingly label you "my new best friend"...... which would be a joking way of saying "Can you get me in?". But I wouldn't be serious. It's just what some people say, of saying "Man, what a great perk you have!"

You are either going to have to:

1) stop telling anyone he works at Disney or

2) come up with a standard no answer and be ready to give it.

People don't think. And I doubt that's going to change any time soon. Better just get used to it. Unfortunately.

Yep

I don't like confrontation so I always try and make my "no" sound jokey and light hearted.
You could say "If only I had a dollar for every time someone had asked me that" or "you must be the millionth person who has asked me that" and then laugh it off, change the subject and ignore the request.

The worst request I had was from someone who only talks to me maybe 1 time a year, asked if my hubby could get her a cheap room for her family trip, I told her nicely that he would have to be a guest in the room too. (Don't want to get that stuff started). They didn't ask for ticket's at least, I told her that WDW security doesn't get all the same benefits as the rest of the cast. Worked! and now she's back to only texting me once a year.;)

Well the down side to going with Disney family is I have to listen to mys on tell me about everybody we see that works there.I have to hear about more than I want to know.I don't care if so and so is crazy or mean or whatever.I just want to ride the ride man and enjoy the dream.I have to drag my son at least once so we can shop together and at least a couple of rides. He will go to Disneyland but no chance he will go with us to CA since he worksthere.

Try working for a major gaming company. It is non-stop. I do donate a few times a year to my children's actives and schools.
