Made reservations at FW yesterday. We have a 30 ft. travel trailer and are bringing a pet. Person we talked to told us we need to request one of several loops given our requirements. Those were 1300, 1600, or 1700. Possibly others but I know she mentioned at least those. For now, we've requested 1700.

Anyone have any pro's or cons on any of those loops or know of other loops that will accomodate pets and a travel trailer with slide-out that might be better? We will be there a week or so and will visit the parks at least half the time. We'll likely get a golf cart and might even take bicycles. In other words, we'll want to hang out at the campground on some days to take advantage of activities there but we will have transportation.

My father likes the 1700 loop with his 38ft 5th wheel, so in that respect you should have pleanty of space(I think he had 1705 for Christmas) 1700 is part of a 4 loop area that all share a bus stop, but 1700 is up front so it shouldn't be a long walk to the bus. There is a nice dog walk behind the loops along the canal, not recomended in the dark though(ocasional gators). Have a great trip.

Obviously the CM who made the recomendation has really not ever stayed at FW. Every loop has a mixture of smaller to larger sites, so to say those are the best really isn't doing you justice.

I am not a believer of requesting loops because someone says it nicer, better etc. I believe you need to request what you want, i.e. a pet loop for a 30 ft TT with X# of awnings and X# of slides.

Now, on your reservation the site assigner sees you want the 1700 loop. When they go to assign your site they may find a marginal site in the 1700 loop and assign it to you because "you want to be in the 1700 loop" while there may have been a better site for you on the 1900 loop. This is why you should request amenities, not a specific loop IMHO.

Things to request

Length of entire rig
Number of awnings
Number of slides
Distance to comfort station (close or far)
Distance to bus (close or far)
Distance to other amenities (pool, marina, cabins...)

Okay, I know the gator thing is going to freak my wife out. Are there any pet loops with petwalks not close to water? hahaha - thanks for the tip

1300 is not a pet loop.

Pet loops with cable and full hook-ups are 300, 500, 700 and 800 (preferred)

Pet loops with full hook-ups are 900, 1600, 1700, 1800 and 1900

All loops will handle your rig.

No need to worry about gators

We go, with pets, in a 37 ft. motor home. Prior to the motor home, we took our 30 ft. fifth wheel. Our favorite loops are 300 and 700. Both of these are preferred pet loops and both have sights that will handle your rig. Both 300 and 700 are a short walk to the marina and the Trail's End complex.

We have, however, arrived once and been given a spot only to find when we got to it that we wouldn't fit or couldn't manuever into it. At that point we called the front desk with our problem. We looked around and found another one in the loop that we could get into; we told them when we called and we were given that one.

Happy Camping,
Laurie

We stayed in loop 300 in October and our 30' Airstream fit nicely. I have an F-250 crew cab with short wheel base and we had our golf cart with us. We had plenty of room, but we were on the last site in the curve...there wasn't a site in between us and the road that circled around to head in the opposite direction. I don't know why they didn't make it a pull through since there wasn't a site at the rear end of our trailer either. Anyway, there was plenty of room on our site for the three vehicles and then some. We were one of the very few towables in that loop. Almost everyone else was in a MoHo and they all had toads.

This was also a preferred pet loop.
