Anyone have any recommendations for a dog boarding facility around WDW. I know about Best Friends but it's a bit pricey. I'm looking at a few, but am open to suggestion! Thanks!

I know our Best Friends is pricey up in NJ, but it's totally worth it. I've left my dog for weekends with some lower priced places and she was locked in a crate all day.

I would prefer to find friends here in NC who will watch her in their home or someone who does in home pet sitting in their home. But In the event that doesn't work I'm looking for a boarding place around WDW. So far the best of them price wise and amenities is a boarding place north of WDW just off I4.

Best Friends IS awesome. But they
Y aren't the only game in town. They aren't even the most expensive! We always know we can fall back on themt if all else fails.

Would you keep posting with what you find? We expect to live in FL by the end of the year, and finding a place to board our Belle is a priority!

So far, I'm leaning towards Preppy Pet off exit 81 on I4. It's on the way for us coming from NC and they have convenient pick up and drop off hours and encourage visits.

Thank you! I like the fact that you can tour the facilities.

Just had a very nice experience at Best Friends. DVC members get a discount and if you have the pet groomed the last day they take off the boarding fee. You can tour the facility and visit during your vacation. They have 2 walk/play and extra is $8 per day. The dogs area is sleeping plus patio area = very large.

We boarded my daughters 3 lb adult Chi there and the size of the cage was hysterical. It was $98 for 2 nights - that included an extra walk each day.

At home we boarded our adult 6 lb and 10 lb Chi's (yes, they're chubby) $25 per day/per dog and they shared (our request - no discount) a 24x18 inch crate with minimal adult interaction. We couldn't pick the dogs up on Sunday which forced us to pay for an additional night and they told us there'd be no one there from Sunday noon until Monday at 7A - was that a problem?

So Best Friends might be at additional $13 per day but I think it was worth it plus she was able to collect him on Sunday.

Is the DVC discount more than the resort discount they already offer to all wdw guests? The resort guest discount is $39.

Thanks for that! So $37 for DVC members. $18.95 for my medium sized dog at Preppy Pet which includes up to 5 walks per day and for 8 bucks more she can spend the day in group play, only returning to her kennel for naps, meals and nighttime. Of course, BF has the benefit of being super close to the resort so we can visit during the trip. No doubt BF is the "Grand Floridian" of dog boarding options...but PP has it's appeal on many levels too.

Geez, can we find one of those for PA? :thumbsup2 certainly beats $25 for 18x24 crate w/ minimal free time.

We live in Celebration part time and use Best Friends for our cat. If you plan to visit your pet, keep in mind that getting somewhere on I4 in the middle of the day can be challenging and time consuming with the traffic. Best Friends is very convenient when staying on property.

We boarded 5 of ours a couple of years back at BF and it was amazing. Yes, a little pricey but we felt so much better knowing there was round the clock care and we could visit whenever we wanted. Not to mention the amenities - we actually did a VIP suite for ours (all small) and it was just super. I didn't feel like I was caging a wild animal.

Our best friend and DVC owner and my dear Hubster took me to WDW after my Mom died---to find my smile. I had been her caregiver for 3 years and lost my smile about 2 years into it. Neither had the heart to tell me I could not have my Shadow nearby.

We tossed him in the car for Mr. Toad's WD Ride from Maryland to OKW for a week. Shadow resided at Best Friends.

For us it was Castmember rates - DH is ABC.

Aside from that....

It is wonderfully convenient. We were there every day for some play time. He cried like a baby when we left but before we got to the car we could hear him barking in his outside private veranda. He LIVES to bark so to not have me chase him constantly shouting "Shadow Be QUIET" was probably a vacation for him too.

It's clean. Staff is super friendly ready to greet their visitors first and talk to us almost as an afterthought.

They have a large play area with small pools--the boy tried but he is a puss about getting his ears wet. They have the water jets which squirt from the concrete. Tennis balls litter the play area. Unfortunately, Shadow thinks every tossed ball is his but has a short attention span and forgets to return them.

It was a relief to me to pop down the road from OKW when I needed to Hug A Terrier.

In June we head to Alaska and Shadow will be "going to camp" with the good people at Best Friends kind of near us in NY.

I recommend.

Oh yes, with the help of DH, my DVC friend, Shadow and Mickey, I finally found the smile I had lost for so long!
