Personalized Christmas Cards

Everything on mine is handwritten - but then again, I love to write..:goodvibes

At the very least, I would think signing their name would be a nice touch..:confused3

Do you work? How many do you send? Do you have a family to raise? Do you have lots of spare time?

Many of us work full time, have a family and very little spare time. If my choices are to send ones with labels or just forget about it due to my schedule then I do the labels. If I had all the time in the world all of mine would be hand written.

The gesture is that I remembered them and sent the card.:goodvibes

Why are people so shallow that only a hand signed card will do.:confused3

I send thank you cards to everybody and they are all hand written.

I didn't say they had to be hand written - just seems a little nicer when they are.. Does it bother me when people don't hand write them? No..
I just answered the question that was asked..

Although I don't work now, there was a time when I did work full-time - did have a family to raise - and sent out waaaaay more Christmas cards than I do now.. And yes, I wrote everything out.. As I said in my first post, I enjoy writing - always have.. And the neat thing about Christmas cards is that if I was so inclined (or pressed for time), I could start writing them out the day after tomorrow for next year.. :thumbsup2

I also love to write long letters - to family, friends, and pen pals - and have been doing so since the '60's.. As an example, I'm just one of those people who can't sit in front of the television and watch a show without doing something else at the same time - whether it's writing letters; writing out Christmas cards; making out bill payments; copying recipes over onto index cards; etc.. Drives me nuts.. If I'm not multi-tasking when the tv is on, I feel like I'm wasting time..

I'm not sure how you "read" into my post that if you don't "hand write" the cards you shouldn't send them at all - because in no way did I say that - or even imply it.. It's nice to be remembered regardless..:) It's just my personal opinion that a hand written signature is a nice touch.. I'm sorry if you took that comment personally and it's causing you so much stress.. Again, I just answered the question..:goodvibes

If you saw my husband dealing with the new printer, trying to get the fancy font he picked to print on our envelopes, then buying new ones when that failed, you'd appreciate the fancy print on the outside of our Christmas cards.

Our insides were hand-signed and each greeting was thoughtfully written. All by him. :lovestruc

I don't mind the pre-printed stuff but I do like a hand-written SOMETHING on the card. My friend Sarah does the fancy printed photocards with a pre-printed message, but she has everyone in her family sign their name when it is going to their friend or favorite relative.

Right now I think many are lucky to just get a card with budgets and lack of time.

BUT I know what you mean, I hate to get cards from someone I haven't talked to in months or all year and just get a card, no updates.

I'm glad to be remembered and so many more important things to think about that being offended by a computer-generated vs. hand written card is about number 1 million on the list.
::yes::
I would suggest that anyone who is really offended by it please let the sender know at some point before next Christmas.

Save them the postage.

I ttried to have everyone sign them this year. I signed my name first, and there they sat...then no one was available for days (DH working late, 2 kids in college, coming and going). So I ended up signing everyone's names. And now that I spend so much time on the computer, vs actually WRITING anything, I hate my handwriting. There was no way I was going to address the envelopes...my handwriting has become awful, and I'm way too neurotic about how handwriting looks (straight and neat). Must be from my Catholic school days.

But then there are people who complain about newsletters. Some people may want updates, but my whole family (except my elderly mom) lives out of state, as well as many old friends, so to update them, should I handwrite personal letters to all of them? But, no updates this year of any kind...no time.
