Hi! I'm not new to the DIS but am new here on the W.I.S.H section. I just wanted to come by and say hi!
I'm 47 now, haven't been too good about exercising for the past couple of years. 6 or 7 years ago, I was working with an awesome personal trainer, 3 hours a week, and felt so good! We trained for over a year I think. I weighed between 125 and 128 at the time, which is my ideal weight.
Now fast forward, I'm at 140. I hate the way clothes feel, and feel so much worse in general. Have a gym in the basement, but can't find the motivation to work hard without that extra push of a trainer.
I'm back to thinking of just biting the bullet and spending the money to hire a new trainer and really get back into it! It's not that I can't afford it; I'm just so frugal! I don't spend lots on clothes or anything really, so it would be my one splurge. I save a ton with coupons (think "extreme", like spending $30 for $150 of groceries is typical some weeks). I keep fast forwarding to myself in my 50's, and would like to be strong and healthy.
Oh, and I'm definitely in perimenopause. I will not blame that, but man your body does change! I used to eat a lot, now I know my metabolism is slowing (but with less muscle too that will be the case).
It's so hard to find a new trainer - or scary I guess. I'm naturally shy and loved my old one. I loved her approach too, work HARD on upper body Monday, back more Wed, and lower body more Friday, with core each time. I'd be so sore but really saw results.
Thanks for letting me ramble on....
