Personal All Star Sports experience. Just came home today.

It never seems to matter which resort I'm coming from or going to, that bus stop seems to always be the farthest one out. :rotfl2:

Have never stayed at ASSports so I cannot give opinion on that but I have stayed at the other value resorts and have never felt like a second class guest. sorry you had such a negative experience. since I am also new to psting here I am surprised at how much people are responding negatively to your opinion :confused3

We've stayed at deluxe resorts and All Star Sports - reality of the situation: you get what you paid for. All Star Sports afforded us two rooms for 8 days. Quicker trips, we've stayed in the Poly or Contemporary. I didn't feel like a second class citizen; however, I did comment that CM's were promoted through the system from Value resorts and the best made it up to Deluxe resorts - the value resorts felt like "training grounds" for bus drivers, food service, CM's, etc. However, in perspective: we got what we paid for. The All Stars were clean, pool was large and clean, buses got us to and from the parks - yes, the bus stop was at the end of the line, the bus ride was longer to the outskirts of the property, but hey, that's what makes them "value resorts".

Stayed at the ASSP in July only problem we had was the many kids from Brazil. Other than that a great stay.

Actually I read this board a lot before we went. I got great tips for things to watch for and bring. The board was very helpful. I am just merely disappointed at how "budget" the place felt. I am already checking dates for our next trip. Hopefully in Feb. or April of 07.

I'm kind of confused by the comments a couple of people made in this thread about not being able to post negative opinions without getting "flamed". Although pretty much everyone who replied to this disagreed with the OP in one way or another, I don't see where anyone got rude or disrespectful. I think of flaming as more along the lines of "you are totally wrong, and stupid for thinking that", not the "sorry you felt that way, we always liked it" that has been the trend here.

Hey OP ... thanks for taking the time to write this review

i have stayed at the majority of WDW resorts (CR, Poly, GF, BC, OKW, CB, PORS, POFQ, PoP, ASMo, and ASSp)

I would definitely give a Value another chance ... "if" you're staying at a slow time - january is awesome.

but i agree with you about doing a Value resort in the summer. they pack people in like sardines, the food court gets overwhelmed, and the pools arent big enough and too hot. we loved the goofy baseball pool the best too

Anybody notice the OP has like 2 posts? Come on guys there is a 99.9% chance this guy is pulling your collective legs. I will not spend time defending the value resorts. I have stayed there, they are fine. Nuff said. There are so many people ready to jump on people around here about pool hopping, refillable mugs, and other "hot button" issues that many forget this is an anaomous posting board where some people get a great deal of joy pushing everybody's buttons and watching the ensuing fireworks. Heck I love to watch the show myself. I'll just grab the popcorn and a coke and sit back and watch the rest of the fun so, carry on.

I agree. Sounds very suspicious. I've always stayed at the Value Resorts, and never once experienced anything remotely close to any of these problems.

Not necessarily....remember the super long thread about my trip to the GF? That is the expectation and that was my point.

Thanks for the review though. I've stayed at all of the values except ASSP and I know what you mean about the bus stops etc. Otherwise our stays were fine. I did notice much more drinking and carrying on at the ASMO then the other resorts I've stayed at but it was confined to the bar area.

Here's what I have learned though. You can't post a negative review on this board or you will get flamed. I hope you enjoyed your trip overall though.

i immediately thought if you after i read what you quoted
about you get what you pay for

I agree, I think some are overly sensitive, especially for participation in a public forum.

I stayed At all star sports about 2 months ago and my only problem with the resort was when I came back in the middle of the day one day the Electricity was out in my room so no AC to cool off in Took a Cool shower with no lights on and was going to call about the lights but no phone working either so as I was going to go to another park I thought I would tell Someone in the lobby, but the Lines were huge with people checking in so I just left a little mad but when I got back that night the lights were working and my neigbors room had a Rental refrigerator and several wires outside the door Must have been a Electirical problem on my section or Fuse in the hotel

Last year we stayed at the ASSP, we had no problems there. Everyone was kind, room was clean ( we came back to our room to find our childrens stuffed animals watching the Disney Channel- too cute Mousekeepers!),the bus was fine( November- not over crowded). Maybe someday we will be able to afford one of the more exspensive hotels, but for right now we are more than happy to enjoy our Disney World stay at one of the "value" hotels. Its what you make of it, and remember... everyones doing the best that they can do! Hope your next visit to Disney will be better! :earsboy: :earsgirl: pirate: :earboy2: princess:

ps- We are going back in December, haven't booked a room yet. Which "value hotel" do you like?

Hey,
We are staying at All Star Sports in October. Would anyone recommend an area to stay in, baseball , tennis etc? Is the car parking nearer one area than another? We have 4 children so would be grateful for any advice. :earsboy:

Our very first stay at WDW was at ASSports, and we loved it. Maybe it was because we were finally at WDW, and we didn't care where we stayed.

But one negative does stand out in my mind, and that had to do with the bus stops. We really dreaded the waiting without shade. It seems to me that just because it's a value resort, Disney shouldn't make us stand and wait without an awning of some kind. Also about the bus system, I did find it a pain, and a bit humbling, that the value resort busses were all the way down at the end when exiting the parks. But I can understand Disney's POV when it comes to that. Every resort bus can't have the first position, so it makes sense to line them up according to their status.

One great thing is that I, and my family, were treated just as respectfully at All Stars as at the deluxes we've stayed at. I never felt like they treated us like "value" people. I was grateful to have a value resort to go to, since at the time, that was all we could have afforded, unless we waited another year.

We stayed in the Football section, which is quite a walk to the bus stop and main building, but it's right near the smaller pool, where my kids had a ball every night.

To the OP, it seems like when it rains, it pours, and it's a shame you had so much bad luck at ASSports.

I have never had a problem going to other resort pools. Its a little tricky on how to get to them since there are not busses from resort to resort. But we have swam in the Yacht and Beach club sand bottom pool several times.

"

Well, since you broke the rules and I have NEVER had a Disney CM tell me that I could swim at "any" pool, I don't feel sorry for either of you. Personally I hope that next time you "crash" at the YC/BC they make a scene and embarass the HECK out of you as they deport you. I have watched them do it and I LOVE it.... :rotfl2:

And if you want to see bad service, check into the GF... I ran screaming back to the All Stars! I could stay a month for what the GF cost and the GF's motto should be "You are LUCKY we allow you to stay with us, our staff does not have time to talk to a guest"
