Permit Filed: "Project M" at Hollywood Studios (Replacing GMR?)

I thought no the vision is putting you in a setting and making you part of that world. So you are in the golden age of Hollywood, you are in the backyard as a toy, you are on that planet in Star Wars Land, etc - so, I guess "immersion"

I guess I get that...

The fact that it says phase 1 makes me think that there are multiple phases and I don't think GMR would need multiple phases- Thinking this may be start of something bigger

It says Package 1, not phase. Many projects use multiple contractors so it could mean just Hoar's part of the project.

Great time to be a Disney fan.. Let's all stop complaining and be excited for something new... Everyone complained about how Disney wasn't doing anything and now people complain about what they are finally doing... Can't have it both ways, folks! Can't wait until D23!

Obedience is never required in a seller/consumer relationship...it is also usually counterproductive to the seller.

Expect MORE

Exactly. Some narratives try to cling to relevancy.

This is almost getting hilarious now though. Seems like every few days lately they are spending millions more on my AP offerings. Loving it. :bounce:

I will miss the Great Movie Ride, but being a big fan of Mickey I was shocked how little presence the mouse has in his own Kingdom. I would love to see an entire section dedicated the Fab 5 and their history.

rteetz - could this have to also do with the new entrance/crowd movement work that needs to be done? That would need to be done circa October 2019 to prepare for the (my guess) November 2019 opening of SWL.

The intelligent approach is this:
1. Discuss the merits of the plans when they are released (none have...but we have had some good hypothetical ******* which is ok till the point were the "truth" becomes unconfirmed)
2. Judge what's built based on execution...what's built. I know that's tough cause it takes a long time. But that's the only way to get to actual merit.

Now...you only have to wait a couple days to see what's maybe out there...but we had some patronizing victory laps started here tonight and it isn't the time.

Since they currently have no access to major Marvel IPs at WDW, I think it makes more sense to do GoTG way BIG here, and an overlay is not BIG. I think DCA Tower of Guardians can lead right into Marvel expansion behind it.

I haven't seen it discussed and maybe it has been just not in a thread I've read. I understand the whole no Marvel in WDW thing, but I don't understand how GoTG is ok to use. It's my understanding that those characters will eventually be in the Avengers movies or whatever the group movie portion is. I don't watch the movies. So if they are going to use them in the movies wouldn't that make GoTG unusable in WDW or would they be grandfathered in if they were in the parks prior to being in the movie? But couldn't it also be argued by Uni at that point that they have the movies laid out far enough out that they knew they would merge into the whole Marvel universe characters together thing and therefore shouldn't be in WDW?

I understand that they are major now but wouldn't combining them with the others make them major? Or continuing on the movie franchise to movies 3, 4 etc...

This is why I've never fully believed any GoTG to WDW rumor because I don't understand how it would work long term.

It's the character licenses/franchises used in IOA...

Which covers Spider-Man, the avengers characters, fantastic four and Xmen...

...so all the good ones...really

Pretty much. There are different umbrellas and Guardians doesn't fall under the avenger umbrella that Universal has.

Thank you! At some point I read something about whether Uni would add x Marvel character, can't remember which, so I thought it was something they were still able to do not that they were limited to what they already had.

Not sure one Marvel thing really fits in anywhere well at WDW and not everything needs to be at all parks. I say let DL and DLP have their Marvel lands and give people more reason to go there. :)

Completely agree...

The smart move would be to do the
Marvel areas at other parks and go another route in Orlando...
...perhaps even more Star Wars to make it the superior pilgrimage. Disneyland would just be fine with a smaller Star Wars section and a marvel area...reasons to go to both.

I always understood it that they couldn't use any characters that are actually part of the Avengers (or have been or will be) -but just being in an Avengers Movie doesn't make you officially part of the Avengers "team"

It's always possible WDW reacquires the rights 20 years down the line once the Universal rides near the end of their lifespan and uses the multiple IPs to anchor a 5th gate; something akin to a Heroes and Villains park. They could incorporate the Incredibles and perhaps some of the Dark Kingdom ideas too.

A guy can dream, cant't I?

Hey guys, where are you going? Guys?
