We are heading to Florida for a trip and DS will be celebrating a birthday during the trip.

I think he gets free admission to the parks on his b-day? Wouldn't it be nice to have those amazing all day fast-passes for the entire family...

We thought about staying at the Nickelodeon hotel as they had a free night stay if one of the kids had a birthday (I think it was one of those rent at least two nights get the third night free), but the offer expires before we get there in May.

Any tips on how to use and abuse the kid's b-day, please post them up. :rotfl: :thumbsup2

Free admission on your birthday I was told ended in 2009.
If your staying on a disney property you will get a Disney Birthday Pin , photo card signed of your favorite character...
Thats about it!!!!
We usually go for our son's birthday. And there's nothing special that sticks out in my mind!!!!

LOL....

We even made our Son T-shirts with Happy Birthday, I'm having a Disney birthday Messages plastered all over them...and nothing.. He got a Happy Birthday from some of the cast members. Maybe i'm missing out of some Disney b-day secrets.. They put a candle in a bowl of ice cream at one of the restaurants...

Free admission on your birthday ended in 2009. You can stop at any of the parks Guest Relations and pick up a birthday button for your son. But even with the button, I wouldn't expect anything other than Happy Birthday greetings from the CMs. Everyone is celebrating something at Disney, and you'll see tons of people with buttons and t-shirts for different occasions. If something out of the ordinary does happen (like a free desert for your son at one of the table service restaurants), consider yourself lucky.

Well, I guess my DS can count himself very lucky!! :worship:

We celebrated his 13th birthday at Disney in January 2009. Our fantabulous Disney specialist who booked our trip had noted this on the reservation, so when we checked in, they had a birthday button for him (and the verbal instructions to "wear it all week while you're here, so we can all be sure to help you celebrate!").

Over the course of six days, he felt like a king. I have never, in my entire life, heard as many "happy birthdays!" shouted out to a single person. The CM's at Animal Kingdom were particularly amazing. The bus driver on our way to AK even got the entire bus to sing to him. The water taxi drivers who were driving the boats to and from DTD going in the opposite direction of our boat even yelled over "Hey buddy, Happy Birthday!!!" with a big wave of their hand (they obviously have much better eyesight than I do).

At AK, the girl in Dinoland gave him an extra two balls to throw at the basketball game as his "birthday gift" from her.

At the character meal at the GF, our server brought him out a birthday crown, and the evil stepmother proclaimed him "King of Canada" (offering to marry him off to one of her "very eligible daughters", hoping they would "live happily ever after in our ice palace up north"). He also received a birthday cupcake.

At Mickey's character meal at the Contemporary, he got a special birthday cupcake delivered by Goofy.

At our dinner at Crystal Palace, he was given a card signed by all the characters.

At our dinner at Sci-Fi, he was given a HUGE birthday sundae, complete with sparkler.

At our lunch at Mama Melrose, they doubled his dessert (mmmm....lava cakes....:woohoo:), added sparklers, and put it on a beautifully decorated platter (it was so pretty, we didn't want to eat them.....almost!!). Our server brought it out and had the whole restaurant sing to him. She also had a beautiful certificate for him, and a card signed by every single member of the Mama Melrose staff.

I thought the Disney CM's were incredible. It was pretty hard to beat that experience when he turned 14 a couple of weeks ago! :rotfl:

I should add, we had an awesome lady in the DISigns forum make him this shirt:

Donald Duck's handler spotted us in MK and made a HUGE deal over the shirt....we got some pretty good one-on-one time with dear old Donald as a result (and some fantastic photos).
