Can anyone give me information on the perferred rooms at the POP? :beach:

Dont' know what you're looking for, but the preferred rooms are the ones in the 60's building. They are closest to the main pool, the lobby and the bus stop. In value resorts the ONLY thing you get for a "preferred" room is the location. They are not any bigger or fancier. It is quite a hike from the farther rooms to the main building though...

I believe there are some in the 50's and 70's as well. I prefer the 50's. Close to everything and not as noisy.

The preferred rooms are in the 60s buildings and are deemed preferred because they are closer to the food court, lobby, gift shop and main pool. That said, there are several rooms in the 50s and 70s buildings that aren't preferred but are as close, if not closer, than some of the preferred rooms. I personally wouldn't spend the money on it as I don't think the walk from any of the rooms is too far (the furthest, in the 90s section, are only about 7 minutes from the bus stop).

Stayed preferred, Room 5269, June 9-15 and ABSOLUTELY LOVED THE RESORT. Previous stays were at Wilderness Lodge, Dixie Landings, Port Orleans Riverside Alligator Bayou, and Carribean Beach.

After this past trip--POP is my favorite resort. The preferred room was worth every penny.

So, you really liked POP and you've stayed at WL and most of the mods? We have two Preferred rooms booked at POP to take advantage of Free Dining and I've tried every day to upgrade to a mod without any luck. We usually stay deluxe, but this is the second trip this year and we need two rooms, so I was trying to economize. However, I've been very worried that I won't like Pop Century and decided I have to have a moderate. No luck.

Most people seem to like Pop, but I'm really a hotel snob and I'm worried.

I'm glad to hear you were happy with it.

The PP's are correct. the preferred rooms are in the 60's and the 50's section. Pop is set up that no section is that far away from the main building, but if you can swing the extra $ it is a little better to be as close as you can be. We loved POP...and hope you will too!

We were pleasantly surprised! For this trip my mom and I took my two sons (5 and 10) by ourselves--left the husbands at home. When we drove up to the resort both of my boys stated,"Wow, this is awesome!" All of the castmembers were absolutely wonderful and we felt like we were "AT DISNEY" 24 hours a day. I described the hotel as "delightfully tacky" to my husband. Everything is bright, bold, and big and yet, there is a certain laid-back feel too! The pool bar was great, there is also a small lounge/bar area at the back of the food court, and the bakery/ice cream place was wonderful! The landscaping was also much more lush than I expected. We often saw ducks, rabbits and lizzards as we walked to the bus stops or to the secondary pools.

Prior to this visit, Port Orleans Riverside (Alligator Bayou rooms) was my favorite resort. POP is completely different, but in a wonderful way. Very cheery, very happy. Our 2nd floor room overlooked the Hippy Dippy Pool and the food court was a very short walk away--a couple of minutes at most (because of the stairs)! You can hear the pool noise in your room at night, but it was never bothersome to us. With two children we created enough noise of our own!

I would not want to stay in a non-preferred room simply becasue those rooms at the back of the 90's section are a good distance from Classic Hall.

IF someone will tell me how to post pictures, I'll post a picture of the pool and the food court taken from outside of our room.

I'm feeling a little better. I think I might just take a chance, forget about booking a mod and save the $600!

Thank you!

:goodvibes So glad to read your report! We have stayed at Deluxe and Moderate, and this trip will be our first Value. Just had an urge to try Pop since it looks so fun in pictures. I've booked preferred for the proximity to Food court and buses since I am recovering from ankle surgery. The CM said she would put first floor down for me since stairs are quite challenging. Any advice as to which preferred section to request would be appreciated. Thanks!:cool1:

This comes up a lot.. on this map.. the preferred rooms areas are noted with yellow lines.

WE've stayed Poly, WL, POR, and BWV - before checking in at BWV we stayed one night at Pop - and I wanted to stay in the "Lady and the Tramp" section (its a memory for dh and I, that Lady/Tramp!) so I will pay and request Lady and Tramp!

We really liked the offerings of the food court at Pop better, I loved the organized bus lines at Pop - there was a lot to promote pop - I think I've read posters that dont mind those "long way away rooms" as they are quieter - the ones that face the lake - but we didnt venture out much - and we just stayed the one night!

I know we prefer it over our experience at POR - POR was long walks - it was a charming walk - but so far from everything, I dont think the food court was centrally located, like Pop's was... but this is just our opinion - and we're going back for a full week in Sept.

We are staying in a Preferred room at POP the first week of September and I am very glad. DH says he doesn't care one way or the other, but I know it's going to be hot and we do enough walking as it is, so why not pay a little extra and save ourselves some walking.

Also, when we come back from the parks we usually go back to our rooms and grab our refillable cups and go back to the food court to get something to drink/eat. So the closer we are to the food court, the better!!

I've booked preferred before and then ended up changing it to standard. This time with free dining at the time I booked preferred was the only POP room available, so it's kind of like the choice was made for me!! I'm very glad that at the end of each day, when my feet are aching, that the walk to my room will be just a little shorter!!

I'm really gald to read such positive responses to POP & their preferred location. I reserved 2 rooms in the preferred location for 8 nights in Nov-Dec and an really looking forward to it
