Perfect fishing spot?

Okay, after deciding against KSS, DH has decided that on his day he wants to go fishing somewhere. I need ideas of SPECIFIC spots to go fishing in Florida. He was talking about some really long pier he saw while we were driving from Tampa to Clearwater but I have no clue where he was talking about. He also mentioned a pier at Cape Canaveral, possibly near KSS. Again . He won't do catch and release so WDW property is out. If there is an awesome spot where he and DSS could do some fishing and DSD and I could do something besides watch them, that would be cool too. Any suggestions on a specific spot?

I know the pier he's talking about, I saw it as we drove over Tampa Bay...but I think it's bring your own gear.

(My property manager is a huge fisherman and this is his recommendation from a local!)

This is on the east coast, roughly 1, 1.5 hours east of Orlando...closer than the west coast spots you mentioned.

You're on a boat with a local guide, so you're almost guaranteed to catch a bunch of fish!

It's not very far from Kennedy Space Center, so you could spend the day there while he's out fishing. KSC is supposed to be a very cool place to visit!

we've got the two longest fishing piers in the world at the Sunshine Skyway, but they're south of St. Pete. you can shorecast along the causeway from Tampa to Clearwater, I don't know of any specific piers.

Bringing his own gear will not be a problem. We are taking his expedition and even if we have to leave one of the children behind, he will have his fishing stuff in Florida. So, do you happen to know more about that pier on Tampa Bay?

Well I have my own fishing gear here in Chicago and my own boat too..but when I REALLY want to catch (as opposed to fish! hehe)... I go hire a pro charter captain and go out on the big lake with a pro....hence my suggestion to take a guided tour for a few hours.

I did this once in Fl on the east coast over by Vero Beach..and it was the most incredible fishing I've ever done. We must have caught 30 fish of varying species...first of all..they have a boat..so they zip you right where the fish are biting...then they have all the "local" knowledge..so they know exactly which baits, lures, and spots are all "hot"...it was worth every penny! It's kind of a fishing "fantasy" excursion if you will...if you can swing it, this is definitely the route I'd go.
