Peppermint Bark

I, er I mean Santa, put Peppermint Bark in Hubby's stocking every year.

I love that stuff! I order some every year; and their homemade marshmallows are soo amazing too!:goodvibes

I make this every year at Christmas time. It's so easy and pretty inexpensive but everyone that I give it to loves it!

Please do not buy this overpriced candy from WS. Make your own:

choc chips
white chips
smashed candy canes

I made mine with Ghiradellhi chips and it was better than WS's. I swear - my family had a blind taste test and picked mine!

Ohhh, my DSis' second home is WS. She buys their Peppermint Bark every year and brings it among a host of other fabulous items to Christmas!!!!!:goodvibes

This is SO easy to make! Why would anybody buy it? The easy recipe is on the side of the peppermint extract box.

I make it every year.

yum! But it is so easy to make. You should try it in that beautiful kitchen of yours!!! ;)

You are just melting chocolate- pouring into a jelly pan lined with parchement paper, melting white chocolate mix in the crushed up candy canes and pour on top.

There is a trick to the pouring of the 2 chocolates - but I don't remember it something like it can't be too cold or they won't stick?? Anyone??

We use this recipe from the Nestle website. We substitute candy canes because they are easier to break up than the round peppermint candies.

Holiday Peppermint Bark

Level: Easy Rated:

Great presentation, easy to do! Add it to your list of Holiday Gift Ideas.

Estimated Times:
Preparation - 5 min | Cooking - 3 min | Yields - 15 pieces

Ingredients:

* 2 cups (12-oz. pkg.) NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® Premier White Morsels
* 24 hard peppermint candies, unwrapped

Directions:
LINE baking sheet with wax paper.

MICROWAVE morsels in medium, uncovered, microwave-safe bowl on MEDIUM-HIGH (70%) power for 1 minute; STIR. Morsels may retain some of their original shape. If necessary, microwave at additional 10- to 15-second intervals, stirring just until morsels are melted.

PLACE peppermint candies in heavy-duty plastic bag. Crush candies using rolling pin or other heavy object. While holding strainer over melted morsels, pour crushed candy into strainer. Shake to release all small candy pieces; reserve larger candy pieces. Stir morsel-peppermint mixture.

SPREAD mixture to desired thickness on prepared baking sheet. Sprinkle with reserved candy pieces; press in lightly. Let stand for about 1 hour or until firm. Break into pieces. Recipe makes 1 pound of candy. Store in airtight container at room temperature.

the hard part is unwrapping all the candy canes. Well, DW and I make enough for about 40 people, between our two families. We also make toffee with a chocolate topping. Just brown sugar, butter and alot of heat and stirring. (Tbs of water also)
