I am trying to think of resorts I would like to visit that have some good food for CS...Pepper Market seems like it is interesting, as well as a good value for the DDP...question is, we are staying at the Poly during the week of Christmas and figure with big crowds at the parks during the day, we can explore a resort and have lunch so:

1) How is the food (I know they have steak but other than that is there something we *must* try?)

2) Is there anything else to do at CSR? I know there are carriage rides at POR and "ranger" tours over at WL, but does CSR offer anything along those lines?

3) If not CSR, what resort would you recommend for a good CS meal and interesting resort browsing?

Thanks for any input/opinion you may have!

I love CSR and we are staying there in 98 days!!!!!

That being said, to me CSR is just a fancy version of a food court. If you want to see CSR and grab a bite while you are there, I'm sure it would be a nice experience. But I can't see going there JUST to eat.

Just my opinion.

1.)The best food at CSR is the Mexican. I can get decent Mexican at home, so I consider the QS place outside Mexico in the WS to be an insult to the cuisine. PM isn't anything high end, mind you, but when we went the food was a step above the other food courts on property. And realy the only place to get good Mexican on property. We really liked also that they had a fruit station with options like strawberries. Again, nothing so fancy, but with a week at WDW, one's fruit choices (and sometimes good veggies) are often a bit limited. I mean you can find bananas, and the periodic Sunkist orange...but you'd think a nice fruit salad would be a customary option at most places.

WE didn't try the sit down place there, but ti also looked interesting. For a sit dwon mea, it might be worth it.

2.)CSR has boats you can rent - like the ones over by CR and GF. Be sure to check out the pool & hot tub while you are there. I'm not advocating pool hopping heaven forbid...just go check it out. CSR also has a playground for kids. We never made it ti the far end of the property.

I've been to all of the resorts now, except Pop. (Although I only took a quick glance at ASMo and AS Sports) I feel pretty confident in saying they ALL have unique theming, and all are worthy of a visit. Perhaps the All Stars don't offer quite as much for the casual visitor as some of the others, but I liked them too.

It sort of depends on what you enjoy. From any of the monorail resorts you can take aboat ride across the lake, stop in the bar for a cocktail (er, only the poolside bar at WL, I think), stroll the gift shops. The QS at CR is lame (steam cooked burgers..mmm), and the one at the Poly isn't very amazing - at least the last time I was there. I think they've remodeled a little since then.

Hmm....if you've never walked around the Boardwalk/Swan/Dolphin/ BC/YC area before - it's a real gem at night when it's all lit up. All of the resorts in that area are quite unique - and they are so close together.

There is definately more variety at PM than at most of the food courts, but the lunch and dinner menus might be different.

However, I stayed at CSR for a couple of weeks and, after giving the PM three tries, vowed never to go back again. The serivce was lousy on each occasion. Admitedly my stay was a few years ago, so things might have changed, but after three strikes, they're "out" in my book.

I'm not advocating pool hopping heaven forbid...

Heaven forbid!!!!!

We like the Pepper Market. The variety of foods is good, and the steak we had there, was very good, and tender.

Also liked the variety of fruits and desserts.

We are staying there again this trip, but not sure I would make a special trip just to eat there, unless you are checking out the resort, which is absolutely beautiful!:goodvibes

CSR is our favorite moderate and we stayed there three times over the last 2 years. Though the PM is a very good food court, I wouldn't make a special trip to CSR just to eat there.

BUT

Though its not a CS and they do not serve lunch, I would definitely make a special trip to AKL to eat at Boma. Make sure you take the free Culinary tour at AKL before dinner.

I also thought about visiting the Pepper Market. The menu and pictures on http://www.allearsnet.com look inviting, but have had second thoughts after reading the many reviews on the DIS and the Unofficial Guide.

We have a free afternoon before the halloween party, and would like to try a new restaurant at one of the resorts. The Grand Floridian Cafe might be a good choice, since we will be at a monorail resort. If transportation were not a problem (no car this time), we would probably go to one of the Downtown Disney restaurants.

We stayed at CSR last year and ate at Pepper Market a couple of times. I liked it a lot, and I liked it that there was so much variety (I had pasta with Alfredo sauce on the first visit and fajitas on the second). That said, it is not worth a special trip.

Glad to hear Boma is worth it. We're staying at ASMu this year (still trying for Pop) but I made an ADR there because it sounds interesting and I would like to check out AKL.

Thank you to everyone for giving me some insight as well as alternative ideas.
** Pool Hopping??? I would never! ((gasp)) :rotfl2: **

:thanks: ++++++ :disrocks:

The Pepper Market pretty consistently gets good reviews. However, when I was there for a week last summer for a convention, I regularly encountered food that was distinctly past its prime--stale biscuits, chicken that tasted like it had been sitting around the refrigerator, stir fries that had been kept warm until they turned into mush, that sort of thing.

I recommend the rather out-of-the-way Picabu's at the Dolphin. It's IMHO some of the best fast food at WDW and the beef chimichanga is one of the tastiest things I've ever put in my mouth. And they serve food on actual plates, not plastic.

I like the pepper market, but if a big convention gets out at the same time you are going to lunch, it will take a really long time.
