Its not really a buffet. It is pay one price for what you care to eat for breakfast and lunch. You still have to go up to the stations and order your food. We went to the grill to order omlettes for me and bacon & eggs up for DH. I went to the bakery to get croissants and toast. The CM brings you your juice and coffee and the CM also brings you your check at the end of the meal and you give her your KTTW card to be charged a counter service/QS meal credit per person.Hi,
Can anyone share information about this? From what I'm hearing, it counts as a QS credit, which would be great, but I can't find much info.
thanks,

The stations are still the same, you just choose what stations you care to order from.
But that makes it even better than a buffet. If you choose the right stations, they don't cook your food until you order, so it's nice and hot and fresh instead of something that's been sitting under a heat lamp. Then you can go back and order more if you want.
AND it's a QS credit!!!
It's a QS credit but you're expected to tip the server. If not on DDP, it's automatically added to your bill. If you are on DDP, you're expected to tip as you would at a TS - except 10% rather than 18%. When I go to a QS location, its to eat fast and cheap. Having to tip someone and wait for someone to bring me more drink and a bill defeats the purpose of QS for us.
From what I've read, this new way of doing things does not require you to tip your server. Not to say that you should or shouldn't, but I don't think it's required anymore?
I was worried that CSR wouldnt have a QS option for breakfast and lunch anymore so I am glad to see that it still counts as a QS, even though it is a buffet.
I haven't heard this, hopefully someone can confirm. The only change I've heard as far as tipping the serve goes, is when they removed tips from DDP. When that changed, people on DDP had to start tipping at Pepper Market. It was no longer included so DDP were no longer exempt from the tip at Pepper Market. To my knowledge, the 10% is still automatically added to the bill for those paying OOP.
Not really a buffet as described above. They have made to order stations and they check off on a card what you get. Not sure if it has the same restrictions as QS though (entree, dessert, drink).
Do you know what it costs out-of-pocket? We won't be using the DDP. Thanks!

There is no card to check. You just keep going to each station to get your food. Its pay one price for all you care to eat at breakfast and lunch. The CM brings you your beverages and you give the CM your kttw card when finished. You no longer go up to the cash registers. 10% is not added, you have to add a gratuity if you wish.
The Pepper Market buffet test will take place December 4, 2011 January 4, 2012 at a cost of $14.99 for adults and $8.99 for kids for the morning meal and $16.99 (adults) and $9.99 (kids) for lunch.
This has changed over the years then, yes? The last time I was there was 2008 I believe and they gave you a card that each station marked off so they know what you ordered. At that time, 10% was automatically added to OOP bills and you did not have to tip if you were on DDP because at that time tip was included. When tip was removed from DDP, you were expected to tip on your own.
Is what you're describing related to the trial buffet which is going on through January? Or is that just how it is now?
