Are there any restrictions on health conditions? We would like my father to come along with us but he has several health conditions, including the use of oxygen that he carries with him. We think he'll be fine, but will the ship allow it? Thanks!

Sorry there are no answers to your post. I don't recall ever seeing this question before. I think you'd be better off calling DCL directly on this one. :scratchin

I know you can have canisters of oxygen delivered to the ship - but you'll need to call DCL directly and be able to detail all of your dad's ailments in order to get an accurate answer from them.

Last week, my 81 year old mom did a Western Cruise with us. She is pretty healthy, but I had a wheelchair for her because the ship is so big. It was so easy to get her around and everyone was very helpful.

We spoke to several other guests in wheelchairs. One young man was a quadrapligic (sp) he drove his wheelchair with his head.....he had a wonderful time. There was another lady who had a wheelchair and oxgyen. She told us that the oxgyen tank did not fit on the wheelchair she had rented so she was carrying it in lap......you may want to remember to check that. She had the oxgyen delivered and the wheelchair (motorized) also delivered. It seemed very reasonable price although I do not remember now.

I guess what I want to say is all the guests and Cast Memebers made our trip extra special.....
Hope this helps in some way,
Lisa

I work as a respiratory therapist in home care. We always make arrangements for our traveling oxygen patients. We also have a very small oxygen concentrator that can be carried by hand that weighs approx. 25lbs.
I believe it is called oxylite. If your relative is a medicare recipient, his home care dealer could make him pay for the rental of equipment and tanks. We never make our patients pay anything but some companies do. He could probably request smaller tanks and use an oxygen conserving device providing his doctor approves of this. This device would make the oxygen last longer while he is wondering around on the ship. I believe I would first check with the cruise line and then talk with his supplier of oxygen to see if they would help him. If this is possible, I would make sure that he had more than enough tanks to last the entire trip. Good luck.

You do have to contact DCL because they require specific forms to be filled out prior to boarding when there's a health issue present. They allow the passenger to cruise, but they need to be prepared in advance for the safety and comfort of the passenger. I think you'll find that Disney is really great when dealing with a situation like yours.
