We have Todd and Copper... furbabies...
Somehow the only conversation DH and I did NOT have prior to walking down the aisle

was about pets...
I am glad I did not know before we said "I do!" that he would put his foot down and say NO to all pets...

You KNOW I must have really loved that man!

(I still do

)
I am a patient woman... lol
Fast forward 8 years and 2 kids later and we are getting our first puppy...

Well with 2 kids ages 4 and 7 who watched the Fox & the Hound continuously
and he was a cute little tri-color rat terrier with a face the color of a penny, so obviously our new family member had to be named Copper.
Then a number of years later my cat-hater husband

was too busy working outside to notice one day when DD (13 years old) came home with the most sad, pathetic, flea-bitten injured kitten.
He was so small that (after a bath with mint and pennyroyal and a penicillin shot) he fit in our small bread basket with a few stuffed animals to keep him warm.
Well, DH could not say no to her, could he, and Todd joined our family.
Todd turned out to be the nicest most loving cat, and has been a great comfort to me as we transitioned from a busy family with 2 kids to an empty nest with one cat.
Even DH has come to appreciate him.
I caught DH petting and talking to him last week, and giving him the last of the milk from his glass
We lost Copper a few months ago... he was almost 15 years old,
and the fur in his face had faded from copper colored to white.
Copper and his Boy (our DS) grew up together and went everywhere together on our farm.
You only had to look for one to find the other.
They shared a bed, they shared a life.
The only place Copper could not go with him was to college...
Copper's favorite resting place was in DS's bed, especially when he was gone to school.
He still loved his Boy (now 19) very much and was a faithful companion to the end.
We miss him.
Rest in Peace Copper.
