People who don't RSVP!!!

This is one of my biggest pet peeves. Usually I only get about 25-50% that RSVP so I think you did pretty good Desnik :D .

The one invite rsvp that really stands out to me is one where the people rsvp'd to my wedding by calling someone else, added extra people who weren't invited, and then canceled. Talk about rude ::yes:: . At my wedding we were keeping it small (about 60 guests). I have an uncle and he has a wife and 4 kids. I have met them maybe once in my life. To be courteous, I invited the six of them. They called and asked my grandmother (didn't even call and ask me  ) if each of the kids could bring their girl/boyfriends and my grandmother called to ask me. I agreed thinking it would be nice for them to come. A week before the wedding and my grandmother calls me back and tells me that they just called and none of them are coming! No real excuse just they didn't feel like it. Now this is 10 people out of the 60 we invited! Talk about rude. Family or not I will never reach out to them and invite them to any event again.

Regrets only means just that. Call if you are not coming. I have done that in the past and they still don't call, and then show up!

This gets on my nerves, too. As parents, they should know what it's like planning a b-day party. This happened to me last year, I had bought the gift bags and planned for 2 extra and 4 non-rsvp showed up, well that was going to leave 2 w/out gift bags. Well I always add my kids in on that, so they didn't get bags (not that they should, but they get excited over that as well).

I can't comment on the kids parties, as my DS is now 26 and I never had any parties for him when he was young, nor did it seem like any of his friends did. But for adults, if the invite says RSVP, and someone does not respond, I have enough nerve to say to the person showing up that didn't respond, "I beg your pardon, but I was not expecting you, and I am afraid there is not a place set for you". Seriously, I have no problems turning people away to something like that. And if the person is offended, it is not my problem. Harsh? Sure, but it is the same as buying a ticket to an event, if you don't have a ticket, you don't get in.
