People spreading cremated remains on rides...

The Walt is my Shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in a themed flume ride:
He leadeth me beside the Caribbean waters.
He restoreth my Tom Sawyer Island:
He leadeth me in the paths of the ride entrances for His name' sake.

Yea, though I float through the waters of the Pirates of the Caribbean,
I will fear no evil: For Walt art with me;
Thy mouse-ears and thy Fast Pass, they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table at the Blue Bayou in the presence of mine enemies;
Thou annointest my head with rum; My booty runneth over.

Surely treasure and wenches shall follow me all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the House of the Mouse forever.

Ashes to animatronics... Dust to flume...

Amen.

Yea, you don't drink ti, but that water flows through the entire ride... What if it splashed all over you after the drop...

If I remember correctly, fire kills everything. You would perobably pick up germs, etc just from blowing dust, etc then you ever would with blowing ashes!
Wasn't there a rumor a while back the Keith Richards snorted his fathers ashes.

omg thats a funny pome my df loved it.
andyyou know I would never have thought about it but if ppl last wishes were to be scaterd and stuff I wish disney would make someting up where ppl could do it leguely and safely. Disney rules hehe

Hmm.....I don't seem to be bothered by it either. I thought about it, tried on the "ick" opinion for a minute, but it just didn't stick. I think it's kinda' sweet :goodvibes

I think if a person really wants to be there...so be it. As long as the "spreader" is discreet and makes sure nobody will be inhaling () said loved one.

My hubby is irritating, and insists that he wants to be shot into space....wonder how much THAT costs???

I wouldn't mind being spread at DL....:)

For some of those prices I think you should have him take you on a wonderful Disney vacation. Maybe you can let him know you will take it with him or after he is out in space :rotfl:

I have actually been with people who spread the ashes of loved ones in unusual spots (NOT any Disney location though) and while I am not sure of what I think of divideing up the ashes I think its nice to have your loved ones take you to spots you loved in life. Typically most people had a film canister or special necklace vial that holds ash (probably about an 1/8 tsp). I think some one would notice if you brought much more (no security CM this IS my purse, not an Urn and no I can't open it). I personally never found it "icky" since it was always done with love in a way that I found honored the life of the person who passed. And I might have breathed some in since it was pretty windy, and I am still alive (and I hardly knew the person).

Maybe this is why there are supposed to be ghosts at DL especially HM!! I want to haunt the HM!!!:rotfl:

That's funny Fairycat! Thank you!
I didn't realize that space spreading was an actual option!!!!???

But you're right, I think for those prices, we could take one or more very nice trips to DL!

I'm not telling hubby about that....and hopefully, since he's only 32..we won't really need to think about it for a very long time!!

my Gran died in 2002 and we still have her ashes hanging around somewhere.. We wrapped her up as a gift at her own funeral. Then in Christmas paper... I think she is in my Uncles closet at this time...

Is that even legal? Gotta agree that it's not something I'd want splashing on me or having to breath in by accident. I don't know, seems very inappropriate to me.

The article says that spreading ashes on private property without the owner's permission is illegal - and that disney has been asked but says no.

Umm...we were going to do this with my brother, but just about an 1/8th of a teaspoon, but decided not to because we didn't know where to do it. Maybe the 7 Seas Lagoon or something, but I never thought to dump him on a ride, although, he would have loved to be left on RnR, lol.

It wouldn't bother me people doing it, as long as it's just a little, I mean don't be going and dumping the whole entire body there, ummm...yuck!

Hanging around somewhere?? Gee when I die I hope I don't end up in the back of someones closet relagated to garage sale fodder!!
A ride is just a building with cool stuff in it. It is not permnant. It would be like dumping someones ashes on the floor at costco. Not to mention it's gross. IF you were to scatter ashes at DL, take a very small token amount (teaspoon) and put it someplace permnant like in the grass or in some flowers. Not on the floor of a ride....stupid.

I didn't feel like reading all the responses so if someone put this already I do apologize. We took the segway tour on Thursday and our guide said that when the park closes they find cremated remains on the rides and what happens is they get picked up and tossed in the garbage. She says they're easy to find and always end up in the trash so your loved ones remains end up in a trash heap somewhere.

LOL. Don't give my mom any ideas! I think Costco is her favorite place to shop. :rotfl:

As for Disney finding the ashes and vacuuming them up, yes I beleive they would find any dumped in a ride. But if they were dumped in the soil, under a flower (a small amount) they would just water down into the ground and never be found. I'm just sayin.... ;)

:rotfl2: This thread makes me shutter but makes me laugh at the same time. I am not sure why people would be so silly as to do something as to sprinkle ashes on the rides. I am quite disturbed now to think that on Pirates or any other water ride we could get soaked in water and human ashes :scared:

I have heard that this also happens in here Las Vegas. People dump cremains in the water features at strip hotels. But when they are cleaned, the mud and muck end up in a land fill and your Aunt Bernice won't stay on the strip forever. I would NEVER do this with a loved one, even if they asked me before they died.

Hey jlima, the lady behind your kids on California Screamin (in your signature) looks like my dead grandma. Now I'm pretty sure she wasn't spread in DL (I saw her get buried), but maybe she just HAD to ride Screamin' when she heard about it!

I've told my kids I wanted to be sprinkled in the grounds around HM, since I wanted to bump up the 999 haunts to 1000. But I guess I better let them know I was just kidding.
BTW, I don't think you need to leave your remains in DL to have your family remember you there. I feel my dad with me every time I go. Happy memories make him present there more than leaving little bits of his physical remains would.
