This was taken at the Main Street Confectionery. I thought it was a little gross when I counted 15 people, in 4 minutes, pick up one of these treats to inspect it, but not purchase. I can tell from 5 feet away what its made from, no need to pick it up and wave it around to your friends.
Then, this non-costumed cast member walks over to the costumed cast member, leans on it, and starts talking. Dood must have had a hard shift to not be able to hold himself up.

Side note, I think some people would find it strange that someone would then take a picture of it with the intent to post it on the internet.

I don't see what's gross about it? They're covered in plastic.
They're kind of cute, too. We may have to get a couple of those next week

Ya, they're covered in plastic, but think of all the dirty fingers picking these up, smearing their junk on them all day long. Yuk.
Don't get me wrong, I've eaten a few of these and germs don't bother me much.
I just don't make a habbit of leaning up against food.

Just out of curiousity, how did you know it was a non-costumed CM? I'm honestly just curious.

I actually picked one of these up a few days ago and didn't buy it. I just couldn't believe how big it was and was curious about the price, which was listed on the back ($20). I didn't think about it being gross, b/c if I would have purchased it, it's wrapped in plastic anyway. Touching it was no grosser than touching the railings in every queue line around the parks.

I don't see it as gross to pick up a wrapped product to look at it. I find taking a picture like that to be something I wouldn't do.

You think people dont pick-up items and then put them back at a grocery store? At least at Disney they don't abandon frozen foods all over the store.

I agree that it isn't right for someone to be leaning on the food like that, especially something that could be damaged by the pressure - like a rice krispies treat - but I see nothing at all wrong with picking up a sealed item to look at it. I've done that plenty of times myself, especially when seeing a really unique item for the first time. Sometimes it's to show something to my wife or daughter who may not be right at my side. Sometimes it's to see the price, or to look at the ingredients list or nutrition label (I wonder how many calories are in this thing?). Since I wouldn't expect anyone to be eating the wrapper, the issue of germs would never come to mind. And, as noted, people pick things up and put them back all the time in the grocery store so this certainly isn't an unusual occurrence.

I love these treats they work as great pillows! I work retail and sometimes lean against things that others would find weird. As long as he did not break the treat I would let this one slide.

Dood went over to the costumed CM and talked about his shift that he just finished. There were two other non-costumed CMs with him.

To be clear, I was waiting for my wife in the lineup, not just hovering around the snacks for fun.

Maybe next time I'm there, I'll lean on a couple of candy apples until someone takes a picture of me.

Not sure why people picking up a sealed food item is gross. Certainly not in comparison to all of the hand rails you've grabbed getting into & out of rides that day. Look at the placement of those treats. They're placed low, eye level with kids. They're on the edge of a table stacked 3 high and the table is probably either close to a register or the entry.

Disney wants these treats to be picked up. Why? Because once they're in someone's hands there is a greater chance that it will be purchased. If they were out of reach, behind a counter or in a case sales would be way down. And considering it's a rice krispy treat I'm sure the profit margin on that, like everything else in Disney, is plump.
