I have a friend - lets call her friend A who is doing a marathon for a breast cancer charity.

Another friend, friend B, has just found out that her mother has breast cancer.

So friend B decides she would also like to do the marathon.

Friend A asked me if I would sponsor her. And then added...don't sponsor friend B, she's just doing the marathon to copy me, she just wants attention too!

I'm so angry with friend A...friend B's mother has breast cancer, that's why she wants to do the marathon, not to copy friend A!

How can people be so self obsessed???!!!????!!!!

Holly crap , if friend A is doing it for attention I would take my money to sponsor her , double it and give it to friend B. That is honestly what I would do if she admitted that she's doing this for attention.

At my last job, I worked for physicians who specialized in a particular disease (for which there is a foundation). One of our nurses wanted all the fund-raising glory for herself, and would purposely withhold information about foundation fundraisers, volunteer opportunities etc. from the rest of us so that SHE could get people to sponsor her. Ack!

If it's a big marathon (say, London), then getting a charity-place usually means that you need to raise at least £2000 - I imagine that 'A' didn't realise her insensitivity and is more concerned about having to forfeit the race that she's been training hard for.

Sorry for your friends mother though (last year my friends mum died after having issues with breast cancer that she had back in the 1980's).

Nope! No insight at all. In fact, this makes me think of another situation when she displayed her 'superiority complex'....

She (Friend A) was having some legal issues with a family member. We have another friend (Friend C?) who is a lawyer.

Friend A kept referring to her legal problems vaguely and Friend C asked her what exactly the problem was, and if she could help....and friend A put on her most condecending face and told her....

'oh no, it's complicated legal stuff, you wouldn't understand'.

I told you what I would do honestly , and I would make sure that she knew about it and why. I'm sorry but I have no respect for people like her who only do things for her own benefit. JMHO.

Not a very nice person, not sure why you would even consider her a friend.
