Last month, I was waiting for the Good Morning song and rope drop at the Magic Kingdom, and was standing just outside of the tunnel leading to Main Street. The sun was shining bright and it was starting to warm up quickly. A family from NJ (I know b/c I had been chatting with them prior to this occurring) was there, with 3 little ones (appearing to be under the age of 4-WOW-- brave people...), Mom and Dad, and Grandma. Well, we had all been waiting for about an hour (it was EE), and Little Girl decides she has to potty. Mom says, "Let's go to the big potty." Little Girl says, "No, Mommy, I'm afraid I'll fall in." So Mommy pulls out a portable potty, and Little Girl proceeds to squat right there in front of God and everyone. Here's what amazed me (since I can respect a little girls' need to go RIGHT NOW)--- Dad actually gets MAD that Little Girl isn't getting PRIVACY. Now, think about this. You are waiting in line to get through the ropes with about 2000 of your closest friends, and you expect your 2 year old to have PRIVACY on her portable potty? C'mon... And nothing against NJ folks... I just happened to be very Southern and not very used to the brusqueness this Dad demonstrated that seems to be common to some of the nice folks to the north of me!

What strange things have you seen while experiencing the Magic?

I'm still laughing over the post a couple of years ago about a family who were sitting on the curb on Main Street eating out of a can of corn.

You should post this on the tread right up above this one,
Have you ever had a shock?
This goes right along with what they're talking about.YOu won't believe some of the stuff on there!

By the way, I see you're from Alpheretta(sp).
Our DD just started showing horses, and we're looking to purchase one for her. We were told that area was a good place to try.:D

As soon as I posted, I noticed the thread above!! Oh well.... There are a lot of places up north of Alpharetta as well to buy horses-- like Dawsonville and Cumming. I don't know much about horses, though, sorry!!

I guess I shouldn't be surprised, but I am! I wonder why they couldn't at least take the portable potty to the restroom and let the girl use it there.

I think the one that really irritated the heck out of us in January was some pain the All Star Sports family, where the pre-teen boy had more common sense than the adults.
DH and I had to renew our AP's. (Paperwork all done -- just needed to exchange our old AP's for the new ones.)
We went to guest services outside of Epcot. No line. We think -- hot dog!
Two windows -- one family of two adults and three kids hogging up both windows, trying to get an undeserved discount on passes! :p  And strangely enough they were from the upper east coast -- that accent is a dead give away. ;) Although anyone can be a jerk from anywhere.
The CM's were trying to get them to move over to one window -- and even finally the older son. But no----- the one witch had to stand her ground.
This went on for several minutes, even with all the little kids whining about when they were going to leave. I know they just figured if they griped long enough, took up a lot of time and were obnoxious enough -- they would *win*.
But SEVERAL minutes later (with now a long line behind us) FINALLY the mother in the group was going to pay the extra whopping $28 for passes. And to give credit to the CM's -- both of them were trying to find a way to get her a discount. This lady was just arguing because what they had paid on tickets on their last trip!
But yet the gal being the most obnoxious, fighting the hardest for that lousy $28 had big honking gold rings on every finger, like Liberace. I don't even know she could bend her fingers.
 :p Maybe she needed that $28 for a downpayment on another ring. ;)
They won the obnoxious award that trip. ;) I am sure they bring grief wherever they go! :jester:

The one that stands out in my memory the most is the guy (next to us) who stood up at the start of Spectro and deliberately blocked several young children's and a wheelchair person's view of the parade. RUDE! I tried speaking to his wife but just got the "it's a free country" speel.

Missy28, I can assure you we arent all like that from NJ!

The strangest thing I saw was on our last visit in March. We are Disney vacation club owners and decided to add an extra day to our stay so we were staying at All Star Music for the night.

My DH and DD were in the room napping and I needed to make a call on my cell phone so I walked out of the room. I look over to my right and 2 doors away from me is a man sitting there with no shirt on and a woman was SHAVING his BACK!
Now, this was going on right in the middle of the walkway. I almost threw up. Disgusting!
Not as bad as a kid using her portable toilet in line but truly disgusting.

A few years back, I remember this one taking place in MGM while waiting for a parade to start. A mother and two kids are nearby. The 2 kids start causing problems and have a "fight" which eventually leads to one hitting the other. The mom observing this shouts, "Don't hit your brother!" and then proceeds to slap that one! Nothin' like teaching through example.

It is quite funny that you should start this thread, I was going to start something like this after thinking about our holiday to WDW last September.

This first thing was disgusting, honestly, I suffer from jet lag in the most horrid way so I wasn't feeling my best as it was.

We were visiting MK for the day and was just about to turn right heading towards tomorrowland, I decided to turn around to admire the view of the castle when 3 women staggered up and stood on the other side of the pathway, it was well clear to me that they were all paralytic, well, we then decided to walk ahead until we got to the Mickey Minnie topiary sculptures and we looked back to grab a picture to find that one of the three women was chucking up in the bushes facing the castle, her friends were laughing and holding her hair back!

This second thing was just odd, really odd, we were visiting Norway when DH needed to needed to use the bathroom, so I sat waiting for him, looking at some children playing on the big Viking boat then I saw mother and son about 7 or so in the corner, he was taking a leak on the ground while she turned the other way to cover him, I was not the only one to see this and the woman was challenged her defence was that she is a single mother and he, her child, was too old for the ladies room but too young to go to the mens room by himself, so she thought him pissing on the floor was a good option!

This third thing was just ignorant, we had left epcot for the day and was just about to head back to POFQ the bus was crowded, every seat was taken, we thought we were about to leave when the rear door opened and I realised a child in a wheelchair with his family was joining the rest of us. well, the family of four that had been in the long row of seats were muttering under their breath about not moving, the driver then asked the family to move politely to move as the child in whe wheelchair needed to be in a certain place, but the man as was very vocal stating his wife had a swollen ankle and needed to rest, well right then and there everyone was staring at her feet, and could I see a swollen ankle. ... what do you think?
the driver asked again and then he started on the "why should I move when I paid good money" etc. the driver said he would not leave until these people vacated the seats, a verbal fight was breaking out between one family and the other and then my DH got involved as we gave up our seats to accommodate the child's displaced grandparents.
well, almost 20 minutes later we left as they finally vacated the seats and stood at the back of the bus next to us as the bus took off the sniping began as husband was making remarks about the other family to wife, I won't tell you the comments as they were unnecessary and upsetting as lots of other people heard, when DH heard this his blood boiled over as he is very built, very tall, very chivalrous, very English, and not very subtle as he lent over and whispered quietly 'if I were you, I would keep my ****ing mouth shut" well, not a peep out the husband all the way to POFQ!
Anyone would think these people were like Jerry Springer show candidates, but they seemed so well to do with the amount of brand name logos they had all over them!
Let's see who can beat these three on rudeness, oddness and disgust!
Cheers!
Ella

Back in 1998, we were in Rainforest Cafe in DTD when I saw a girl, probably around 18-20 , looking a little tipsy. Next thing you know she is vomitting in her dish. Of course my 6 year old daughter saw this. Every once in a while, she says to me, "Do you remember when that girl threw up at the Rainforest Cafe?" What a "pleasant" memory!

I am cracking up over the OP's story. I could not imagine being in that line.

A couple years ago we arrived at the MK Spectro parade site early in order to have good viewing. A group of hillbillies came up behind us 30 minutes later and obviously wanted our places desperately. They started loudly talking about how they had been "puking" all day and how they "had the runs", all about what horrid smelling gas they had and so on....They kept throwing their kids into us and really trying to physically push us out. I can tell you we didn't budge!! What rock did they crawl out from under?

This isn't shocking or disgusting, just funny.
We were at Epcot a few years ago, it was a beautiful night and we were just wandering around the World Showcase.
There was a guy walking around holding an open umbrella over his head! We saw him everywhere we went.
It wasn't raining, it wasn't even threatening to rain, and it was nighttime.
I took his picture!
I'll never figure out why he had that umbrella.
He was also wearing sandals with white socks.

:p

ROFLOL!!!!
I have to tell you..........when we were at MK last week.....we were looking for a spot for the Share a Dream parade. It was very sunny and only seats available were on the sunny side of Main Street. We said what the heck!! :D But after a few minutes, it was getting really hot and DD had a bit of a sunburn going already. I sent my older DD into the shop to buy an "umbrella"!!! I needed a new one anyway, and for $9, why not! It was cheaper than those misty-fan things. And it would give us shade!
Anyway, the girl working the Emporium was a little surprised.....she asked "is it getting ready to rain??" NO. She said they only bring out the ponchos and umbrellas when it rains, but she went back to get one!
I'll tell you .....best $9 I spent! for that 45 minutes we were in our own "shade". THEN.....just 1 1/2 hours later a storm came out of nowhere!!! But we were prepared!

I still can't get over that potty thing!!!! Not just that the little girl would do that right in the open.........But, who carries around a potty in their back pack!!!!

Several years ago at Epcot I saw a VERY pregnant woman wearing stiletto heels and short-shorts smoking a cigarette-it was horrifying.

Well, I don't know how long they were in line, but as soon as we arrive at any park, I go to the bathroom as my DH and DS get our place in line. Then we switch and they go. It is best to get it done .

One thing that was very odd we noticed last May was the line budgers.
Usually you may see one on a trip. But last May it was an epidemic.
We found we couldn't leave even an inch between us, or others would squeeze into a small space (like rats ;) ) where they had no business being. Never have experienced it so common as that week. People were even doing it when and where it wasn't necessary. (Not that it really is ever *necessary*, but you know what I mean.)

One funny occasion was when we were in DAK and heading back to KRR.
A large family was in front of us -- you know the ones -- about 4 or 5 generations of people and they all walk side to side, at a snail's pace, so they just take over the whole street. Like a sideways parade.
We were a few people behind this group. All of a sudden one person in the group stopped, so they all stop, and kinda congregated forming their own line, only about three across.
People around them were stopping too, and the solid, typical WDW guest line was forming.
DH and I said the line for FP or KRR can't be this far back!
We squeezed around them. Sure enough the head family member was just stopping to look at a map. But a line of other guests was forming behind this family.
So it does show that people WILL stand in line, even when they don't know what they are standing in line for.

That same same day, we came out of RFC and wanted to make/change PS times. I went to the guest window and waited at the end of the roped area, as both windows were busy.
At one window, a guest was with his small daughter and demanding a refund for that day. (It was early afternoon.) His reason was they didn't enjoy the park.
The CM and guest were arguing back and forth. The CM did get rid of the guy by refunding his money.
I was the only one waiting for the next open window. DH was standing away from that area. Just as the refund guest was moving away -- another guest squeezed past me and ran up to the window in front of me! :p (Geez -- it wasn't like I was moving slow or anything. I just waited until the other guy left and she just literally walked up, squeezed past me and walked up to the window.)
I had been waiting patiently 5 - 10 minutes.
I walked up to the CM/guest and said, Excuse me I was next.
That CM proceeded to BERATE ME, telling ME I had to get back in line! (Agian no one else there.)    :p
I explained (feeling like a child who had to defend herself) I had been waiting there and she came out of nowhere, went around me and walked right up.
He again told me I had to go back in line, that I had come IN the OUT!
I said there was no signage (and there wasn't) and explained SHE came from the same direction.
Didn't matter. I was castigated by this CM. Even the woman who went in front of me stood there with her mouth open. She knew she had done, and I was getting chewed out by a CM!
I know that CM was just taking out his anger from the previous guest on me.
I marched into the inside Guest area, again waited in line. Got my PS' changed and then told the CM what happened. She agreed right away there was no signage and no specific In or Out area marked.
She immediately went out to have a chat with the rude CM and I left.
I have to say I don't recall ever reporting a CM for anything. And I know he was mad, but he didn't need to take it out on me or treat me like that.
Otherwise the day was great -- except for him. :p My guess is he didn't last as a CM for long.

Luv2roam
It seems you have my problem. I sometimes think I become invisible and I don't know it. People just tend to cut in front of me in line or walk right around me. However it seems when I am with my bf who is a powerlifter and weighs about 240lbs.. this never happens...go figure
