I just read somewhere there are penny machines at Disney. We are going for the first time in December and my son loves collecting these. Can anyone tell me where they are located?

Hi
I don't know where they are, but I read that you can get a list of all the locations at guest services when you enter the park. Have a great time!!

We love collecting our pressed pennies! I have a few tips that I read on the Dis back when we first started collecting.

1. carry your pennies & quarters in the M&M tubes. Stack them quarter, quarter, penny, quarter, quarter, penny and so on. They are easier to carry this way and all you'll have to do is pop open the tube and pour out your 2 quarters and shiny penny!

2. You can purchase a pressed penny book from most gift shops. Just make sure it's a penny book and not the pressed quarter book. Luckily I noticed this at checkout!

3. Here is a link to a list of all the machines. I think you'll have a great time searching for the machines with your son! http://presscoins.com/listings.php

Good luck!

That is such a GREAT tip!! :thumbsup2

You can also find a list on Allearsnet.com. For us, though, part of the fun was just happening upon them.

They have several really cool pressed quarter machines though those are a bit more expensive. I think the place where we found our best payload was on the fourth floor of the Contemporary by the elevators. If you're going to Chef Mickey's, make a little detour over there. They had five or six penny machines and two that did quarters. The other cool one that we found was by the boat launch at Fort Wilderness. They had a few unusual ones such as a fishing penny.

We rewarded our son for doing things like saying please and thank you and being very patient at mealtimes or in lines with pressed pennies. That might also be something to think about doing.

Oh man..we got back a week ago..they are everywhere!!!!
I think theres 160 different designs you can get!
We bought a pressed penny book to keep them in for $6.50. My son had a blast!

thanks OP for posting the thread, just was thinking about this too.

can anyone confirm it is then 2 quarters and 1 penny?

and on averge how many would you let your child buy? Have at least enough money for 10 right now, but we'll be there 8 days...should I do 2-3 a day?

any tips...

like it as a reward system too.

thanks:disrocks:

No problem. we had a fun time doing it! And the older pennies washed in ketchup were the bet ones...they came out so shiny and you could see the imprints great!
