Penalty for returning National rental early (weekly Rate)?

As an EA member who travels a lot.... I can say that I don't think they told you the correct info on the phone. I have been hit with a change in rate for changing the return.

Well I've been assured by National that I will be charged the full daily rate. I've checked the other companies and it looks like I can get a full size from Alamo for $122 for 4 days with a BJ's (local wholesale club) coupon, so I guess I'll do that. I think I'll give national a call though and give them a chance to match the price. I was looking forward the Emerald Reserve service of bypassing the counter - I guess you have to pay for that.

Well I just checked with National and they very politely told me they have no interest in price matching other rental companies. So, since their prices aeem to be significantly higher across the board, my relationship with National has ended before it even began.

Not sure if this will make you feel better about the price matching, but, no company, for whatever the reason, will price match with another except L&M.
I am unsure if they are doing that anymore, but, they did about 6 months ago.

I think I've heard of some price matching once you are down there and let's say you are upset with one and walk over to another. At least that happened to my BIL and my dentist!

This 5 day to 7 days being charged the weekly rate is across the board with ALL rental agencies. Great for you if you found a lower rate somewhere else but that somewhere else has the same policy. It's not just a National thing.

I, luckily, have always gotten a lower rate a National and have been enjoying Emerald Club for about 4 years now.
