Penalty for no-shows?

Seems like a simple question... Is there any penalty if you don't show up for your ADRs? I know a couple of palces make you pay in advance, like CRT for example, but for the others - do they do anything? Is it considered bad etiquette?

We would like to make ADRs at a couple lunch stops but don't want to be "locked in" to a schedule. So if the kids are melting in the heat and we need to bag out early, will anyone care?
Specifically, Hollywood & Vine, Boma, LTT, Biergarten.

Unless the restaurant requires a credit card there is no penalty for a no show, and these three choices do not.

The problem may become that the spot you have could be used for another family. We try to cancel as soon as we know that we will not be using that reservation, even if it's only an hour prior.

If you are a no-show, they may give your reservation to a walk-up, depending on the restaurant. It is always nice to give a quick call to the restaurant saying you will be unable to keep your time spot thus freeing up that time for someone else to make a reservation, even last minute availability is better than no availability at all, that would be where the etiquette part of your question comes in. There is no punishment unless it is confirmed with a CC and then they will charge your CC.

Excellent. Yeah, I would definitely give them a ring on the cell phone to let them know I won't be making it, but that will be pretty close to meal time. Thanks!!
