Penalty for Canceling a Trip?

DH and I just moved to Tampa and before we knew we were moving we planned our big summer trip in June with our points. Now that we are living here and going up on weekends we would rather use our points for those quik weekend stays. So we have decided we would rather cancel that trip. Will there be any penalties for canceling if I cancel tonight or tomorrow?

If you are 31 days or more out, no penalties. 30 days or less, points go into holding.

To say for sure you will not feel any penalties I would need a little more information- such as use year an check in date but overall the following applies.

As long as you cancel 31 days before your check in day your points will go back into the use year of the trip. So as long as you are checking in after June 1st I believe you are okay as far as that is concerned. Now if the points are banked or borrowed they must be used in the use year of the canceled trip. If your use year is after September then you can bank some of the current points if you wish (or before April).

Now the next thing that comes into play is when you want a weekend trip and if you will be able to get the stays you want if they are less than 7 months out- which has more to do with availability than anything else and it depends on the resorts you want to stay at, how long until the trip, and the time of year you are looking to get the other stays.

You need to cancel more than 31 days before check in. You have 8 months starting on March 1 to bank your points into your next UY.
Current UY points not used before 3/1/2014 will expire.

Yes, you are golden! If you cancel in the next few days, the points will go right back into your account for the 2013 use year. You have until October 31, 2013 to bank the points and if you do not bank them, you have until 2/28/2014 to use them before they expire.

Congratulations on the move - hope you are enjoying Tampa! It's snowing in Minnesota & western Wisconsin - some places already have 15 inches & more is falling! Believe I heard the interstae is closed near Menominee. Today I am jealous of you Florida residents, LOL.

we will probably end up using all our points as I am going up for SWW 3 of the 4 weekends and we will be up all through the summer. I am also considering running the Tower of Terror 10 miler and the Princess Half marathon so I will be using points for that as well.
