What are they used for and would they do damage to my kids or my dog if fired from the neighbors yard?

I can't stand my neighbors!

Pellet guns can injure your children or your pets.
My son has one.
I have to say I was against the purchase but ... ds 15 has shown over the last year that he can use the gun within my strict guidelines. Therefore I have allowed him to keep the blasted thing.

A pellet Gun is a "GUN", Just because it use air or co2 to propel the pellet, dosen't make it any less dangerous than a gun using gun powder. Depending on the pellet gun, at close range you can kill small animils . If your neighbor is firing the gun in your direction knowinglly, I would call the cops.

We got our son a pellet gun when he was 9. Instructed him on gun saftey and what he could shoot at. I set up hay bales in the back yard as a back stop so that he could shoot there. We keep the gun looked up with the rest of our guns (AFTER ALL A PELLET GUN IS A REAL GUN !!!!) and he is only allowed to use it under our direct supervision.

I wish you luck. I don't know what type of relationship you have with your neighbors, but I would try to get this resolved

Thanks for the info. We haven't seen the guns, but heard from the kids next door that their brothers and cousins have been firing them in the back yard right next door. We have very small back yards since both out houses sit way back. This is just one more thing in a very long list of grievances. They have twelve people living there right now, eight of whom are unsupervised minors.

You'll shoot your eye out. :jester:

yes, along with cars, etc.

Gepetto, I take it you like that movie, huh.:p I can't remember the name of it (is it The Christmas Story?). Everytime we see a Red Rider in the store, my SO has to say that line over and over again. He loves that movied.

Some of the kids in our neighborhood used a pellet gun to shoot at the house of our next door neighbor. The dents in the garage door were substantial enough, that the garage door had to be replaced. The kids that did the shooting paid for it and had to take out the old door and install the new one with the help of another neighbor that is a general contractor. So, yes it can do damage to the house and cause injury to any pets.

Pellet guns are most definitely GUNS!!

They can harm or kill... My sister's third husband is currently waiting to go to court for shooting her 9 yr old with one in the leg... he was shooting at a dog he says  ... My DN currently has one he had shot at him earlier stuck in his leg and he cannot straighten his leg completely... What on earth is my Sister thinking???!!

We had almost $1000 worth of windows shot out in our vehicle with one of these, we've never found out by whom. They are not toys. Good luck with your neighbors.

I would call the police and ask what your city's policy is on firing them, and then I'd turn them in the first time they broke it. I've been following the saga of your neighbors, and it seems like you're just going to have to keep turning them in for all the stupid stuff they do until somebody finally does something. Good luck!
