Yeah for Mickey Mail! I got mine this week too. I made my packing lists this week and started putting a few things in the "extra bag". That's the bag that holds all the non personal stuff. Danielle spent the night at a friends last night so I snuck some stuff out of her room too. I'm going to pm you my number so we can meet up on that Tuesday.

I love the peeple one...:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

our old 13 year old dog just stepped in poo and came back into the house. It's getting harder and harder for him to walk and I think he just stepped in his own poo. I had to clean it up off the floor and both his back paws......just a second....i have to go swiffer the floor because it really smells bad in here right now.:sad2:

Chapter 74. WDW 2010, the year of change.

As I started going over my itinerary for the first time in a loooong time, I noticed that my vacation is going to be much different than in years past.

Rooming assignments: While I've stayed on my own before, it's the only the 2nd time in 11 trips with Wendy that she and I won't be sharing accommodations for at least a portion of the trip. As they are not doing the Water Park Plus Option now, I will have even more time on my own. I had to go back and re-examine the itinerary to make sure we had enough together time before they leave on the 14th.

Resort choice: Since 1997, out of 10 trips to WDW, 7 included a portion (if not all) of the trip at an Epcot resort (BWV, BCV or YC). This will be the 1st time since 2002, that at least a part of my trip will NOT include a few nights at one of those resorts. With the support of many people here, I am trying the AKV for the first time. I was so apprehensive about the switch that I called Wendy a few weeks ago to try and switch to BWVs--no availability...

Restaurant choices: I am a person of habit--15 trips to WDW since 1991 including this upcoming trip, nuff said. I almost always go to Chefs, CA Grill, Flying Fish, Prime Time Cafe and Teppan Edo. This trip, however, I am trying several new restaurants--Kouzzina, Boma, Sanaa, Raglan Road, the Wave and Kona Cafe.

Park time: As I was planning this trip, I noticed something. I actually started setting real expectations for each day. I didn't plan too many days for rope drop. I planned more down time. I added in more flexibility. I also am thinking alot this time about relaxing. Maybe it's my age (waiting on comments about that one), maybe it's my work schedule, but I just want to sit on a bench somewhere and people watch.

Air travel: I am flying something other than Delta for the first time and I'm pretty sure I've only done a connecting flight 2x in 15 trips.

I thought about this tonight and really I have to thank all of you for opening me up to change. I've been exposed to things on DIS that I don't think I would ever have the opportunity to experience otherwise. I know what it's like to live in snow, sort of. I've seen Savannah; I've been to the Dells; I've travelled to Greece--all through other people's eyes. I feel like I've been to Louisiana, Texas, Georgia, Washington... I've seen the streets of NYC. I've gained understanding of what it's like to live in a blended family. I've gained appreciation of those who have children with disabilities. You all have changed who I am and how I view the world. I am a better person because of all of you.

I usually know what to expect from my WDW vacations, but with so much change, it's going to be so different this year. I have you all to thank for that.:grouphug:

your DOG and the poo....too funny!!!

Change is always hard and yet so good for you. I'm excited to see what strange new things you find at AKV.....knowing you, instead of drunks you'll become an animal magnet.

I love what you wrote about the dis boards, it's exactly how I feel. Without the trip reports I never would have learned the asian power sign, looked for peeps or taken pictures with my tongue hanging out.

Being here is better than therapy for me. I get to laugh..a lot, cry a little and learn about other places all rolled into one. :goodvibes

I think this is a good thing since it will keep things fresh and different.

And you have enough time together, right?

I don't think I realized that you had always stayed so close to Epcot on every trip. You will love AKL! You really will. Not to go all Disney cliche, but you will feel like you are in a "whole new world" there. ;)

This trip, however, I am trying several new restaurants--Kouzzina, Boma, Sanaa, Raglan Road, the Wave and Kona Cafe.

I can't wait to hear what you think of all these places. Boma and Kona are the only two I can vouch for, but we love both of them.

I also am thinking alot this time about relaxing. Maybe it's my age (waiting on comments about that one), maybe it's my work schedule, but I just want to sit on a bench somewhere and people watch.

If it's your age, I am suffering from it, too. The idea of taking things slowly is very appealing to me.

Ah, Jordan this was so sweet! You have done the same thing for us -- through you we I have seen what it is like to live on the West Coast, visit China, and be a part of the daily workings of a church.

Isn't the DIS great? By being a part of this great community, we have all learned a lot about keeping Disney a different kind of trip over the years.

I totally agree with this! Jordan, you've touched so many people's lives on here, you could almost think of it as another kind of ministry. I hope you enjoy your new trip blueprint, though I'm sure you will. I think most of us are probably with you on the relaxing thing, I know I am, though I don't know how much of that will be happening on our trip, lol. You know how I feel about the Dis, I've probably talked about it too much on my ptr, so I'll leave it at that!

your dong and the poo....too funny!!!!

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: I know you meant dog but I had a flash of sixteen candles there for a moment! :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

On a more serious note yeah we get that way once in a while I too have travelled far and wide with others and walked that mile with others. Sometimes I realize I am not alone in my struggles but mostly I realize I am not crazy in my love for Disney, even though some people immediately around me may think so.

I am excited for all of you going this time. I wish I could somehow make it down there. I would love to meet everyone in "person" and share the experience.

That is one of the best updates ever! Of course I'm all teary eyed now but it's because I know exactly what you mean. I don't know how or why the doors just suddenly opened up for us to be able to take this trip. I don't question it. I know we need it and I don't intend on wasting it at all. :goodvibes

I wonder if it's because we have been to WDW so many times now and we are finally starting to feel settled in. (?):confused3 Maybe we are starting to finally feel like it's okay to take some time and relax. We plan on doing more of that this trip too.

Ah, what a touching update. We feel blessed to have gone on your travels with you as well. You have touched many here.
For every door that closes a window opens.

It's great that your vacation will be different. Change is good and keeps things fresh. Sometimes is nice not to know what to expect. And as hard as trying a new resort may be, you may love AKV and never want to stay anywhere else.

your dog and the poo....too funny!!!

I took the liberty to change the one letter in the above statement....I don't think you you think my well.........you get the idea....:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

I hope I don't wake up to find a family of monkeys in my room with me.;)

I still need therapy...;)

I concur Jackie.

And you have enough time together, right?

You know, I've looked at the itinerary and most nights we are on our own. I think out of 8 nights we're together only 3. Out of 9 days, we are together for sure 4 days. We have alot of free days at the end of the week so I think we'll be spending those together. So to answer your question....sort of?;)

I've visited AKL when I've eaten at Jiko and I loved it, but staying there will be completely different. It'll be interesting how it's rates for people travelling solo.

Out of 13 days, I think I only planned 4 days to get to parks by opening.

I have 4 days where I don't have much planned at all.

I have only seen the Voices of Liberty and the Chinese Acrobats in their entirety. So I plan on watching more World Showcase entertainment.

This community has kept me sane for sure.
