The pee pads I'm currently using for my Pom are not working very well, she is tracking wet pee prints on my floors!! I'm currently using All Absorb 100 count for $19.00 on Amazon. Any recs for non-tracking pads 100 or more count for cheap that actually work?

Hi. My maltese only pees/poops in pee pee pad. We use the large square "mats" that absorb urine that would be used in a hospital under a patient. I fold them to the size we need.

I wash them together with bleach and soap once a week. I have had then for over ten years (I have 7 of them).

Perhaps you can purchase these? We got from a nurse in our family.

Do you know the name/brand? How are they with odor control?

You can buy those reusable pads at any hospital supply store or pharmacy that sells home care items (we have a pharmacy store that sells specialized supplies for people that need care at home-not your average CVS). Google hospital bed pads or something like that. They are pretty thick and will hold the urine-they are designed not to leak. I bought them for the bottom of my puppy's crate in case of an accident but I didn't use them for regular potty training.

If you want the disposable kind-I buy mine at Petsmart. Their brand is Top Paw and they work pretty well. I bought the plastic tray that holds them and keeps the dog from chewing them up.

I buy the disposable adult incontient pads from Freds Dollar Store. For $5 I get 10 thick pads ( one will last all day). These are the best that I have found and never leak! They are the Freds brand.

I had never heard of this product. Is the dog too ill to go outside?

I was wondering why pee pads were being used as well. I have a big dog and live in a house with a yard, I have never used pee pads. Maybe if you live in an apartment in the city you might need pee pads?

Personally I would never use them - but we have a yard and plenty of room to take out our dogs. But here's a scenario in which they could be used - I had an elderly Aunt that had a beloved Pom and then when she had a stroke she had to start walking with a walker and was unable to walk the dog any longer. I would go over to her apartment every so often and change out the pee pads. I know that's a weird case, but a scenario in which they could be useful.

I was wondering the same thing. My 8-lb Maltese mix is able to hold his potty and go outside fine. In fact, he has better control than my Standard Poodle!

I had a friend who used those pads when she didn't want to crate her pup but was gone for most of the day and the dog chose not to hold it. She ended up crating the dog instead because she didn't want to teach her that it was OK to "go" inside.

I don't know about the others, but I have a small dog (that I acquired when a lady that I knew died) and she was house trained on a pee pad. I have tried to get her to go outside with my dogs and she will hold it till I put the pad down. She is an older dog so I gave in and used the pads. I would not start this if I had a choice.:sad2:

We have a small dog as well who uses pee pads. We rescued him at age 2, and for some reason he has a deep fear about doing his business outside. Even when we take him for a walk he'll hold it until he can get inside to his pee pad. There are a lot of reasons pee pads are used. :)

Can you litter box train him? He may track litter, but that is easily vacuumed or swept up. I think litter would be cheaper, too.

I buy the disposable type from Costco, but also have several reusable ones from Amazon.com. Easy whelp is one brand . They wash up.well
