Peculiar habits

I have to keep straightening things up like ornaments etc. if there is crease in the bed clothes when i am in it, i have to remake the bed.

I have an obsession with bed clothes... they have to be ironed just right and if I get tangled up in them in the night, I go beserk.. (SP?)

I do the tapping of cans of drink, 3 times on the top and 3 times at the bottom, my sister does it too.:confused3

DBF is almost germ phobic, he uses tissues to touch things in hotels and carries wipes around with him.

I have a very wierd thing with sweets, for buttons I have to eat them in 4s unless it is giant buttons then 2s, mini eggs 2 at a time of the same colour and smarties is the wierdest. I tip them all out of the tube and put them in lines of the same colour from the most to the least (except the orange ones) then I eat them in 2s of the same colour, starting with the colour I have the most of but I always leave orange till last.

I also eat sandwiches and cheese on toast, pizza etc in a very particular way so that each bit has the same amount of crust.

I always have to make sure pictures are straight and that knick knacks are in their correct place.

I cannot have a crack in the bedroom curtains and bug DBF to fix it as I won't sleep knowing it is there.

I think most of mine are to do with being away from home.
I won't drink from the cups/ glasses you get in hotel rooms. And in self-catering accomodation I use paper plates and cups and won't let my food touch the table or work surface.
In hotels I always sleep furthest away from the wall.... but at home I insist on the right side and I won't let my bare feet touch the carpet or bathrom floor - so since I haven't quite mastered the art of levitation, I always pack my slippers, even for just one night.

I won't eat any fruit unless it's been washed, which is always makes me the butt of a few jokes at work.

And I absloutely HATE feet, even looking at bare feet makes me feel quesy.

:)

You're all crackers! :rotfl:

Actually, here's a really weird one of mine - cigarettes. Even worse, cigarette butts. My parents were smokers and I was often dispatched to the corner shop for supplies. The shop assistants knew they had to put them in a paper bag, because I couldn't even bear to touch the packet. I still recoil from ashtrays, although I'm not as bad as I used to be - at one time they made me retch. As a child I would scream if I had to step foot on a beach - my Dad always had to carry me. Until recently, I assumed I had a thing about sand, but I've realised it's to do with cigarette butts. I have no problem at all walking on an unspoilt beach in the Caribbean, but I cringe if I have to walk bearfoot on one littered with cigarette butts. I've never put one to my lips in my life. :confused3

I have that many that I'd be here all night, but here's just a few....

I have to put shoes, socks, trouser legs etc on the right foot/leg first then the left, not the other way round...
I have to wipe clean milk bottles with antibacterial spray before I can put them in the fridge....
If we go to a restaurant I spend ages wiping all the cutlery before anyone can eat with them (only the ones my family are using not everyones in the restaurant...lol).....
I can't get to sleep unless I'm completely wrapped up in the duvet, including my head, with just my face peeping out (real passion killer that one)......
I can't touch raw whole chicken....

I could go on...:faint:

.....oh no the men in white coats are coming......:hyper: :hyper: :hyper:

These are just two of mine, my washing has to have the same coloured peg on each item, no mixed colours or peg types :laundy: and when the alarm clock goes off in the morning l have to wait til its 5, 10, 15 mins past never 6, 7, or 8 mins past

a very close friend of mine has a thing for checking that doors are locked, she will often check more than once as well :confused3 other than that she's as normal as the rest of us:rotfl:

That's me too, I'm always checking the doors and I also can't fall asleep without the telly on

Okay, here's mine.

I hate odd numbers like on volume controls, I cannot listen if it's on 15 I have to change it to 14 or 16.

I have to have the TV on even if the radio is on (telly is muted).

I hate oily hands, if using creams & lotions I hate the oily feeling afterwards and have to wash my hands (defeats the object of hand cream, tho!)

I make beds a certain way and they have to be level on each side and when DH does it he knows I go in and re-do it.

My blinds have to be facing a certain way (to the left).

Duvets or covers near my head freak me out, I cannot breath under them so it's a big no no.

All my CD's, DVD's and videos have to be in alphabetical order.

My books have to be in height order.

Everything has to be straight or central, tables on rugs have to line up and be central, chairs have to be lined up, ornaments, photo frames etc.

Most things have to be done in a certain way, like the washing, ironing, preparing food, getting the kids ready in the morning and I get really stressed when DH doesn't do things exactly the same way!

Now this is something i'm really quite fanatical about:

Clothes in wardrobes are hung up in alphabetical colour order, so Black, Blue, Pink, Purple, Red Yellow etc and then in the order of: Fleeces, cardigans, jumpers, long sleeved shirts, long sleeved sweatshirts, long sleeved t-shirts, short sleeved shirts, short sleeved t-shirts and vest tops.

Shoes in wardrobes are done by height, Long boots, short boots, etc.

I can honestly say that I go off my trolley if the clothes go in the wrong place, to the point where I feel my blood boiling and my face getting hotter and hotter.

I'm sure I can think of many more but the clothes thing, oh, my poor DH when he tries to put the clothes away:scared1:

Peculiar?? You don't know the meaning of the word.. :lmao:

I do tons of weird things... I can't remember a lot of them but here a couple I do know:

1) I can't go around corners without swinging on something like a monkey

2) I add new meaning to "Omnidexterity".. I can do things with my feet!!! Mostly stuff like holding crisp packets or lift clothes up from the floor.. Saves time right?? ;)

3) When walking downstairs, I walk backwards i.e. so I can see the top of the stairs and not the bottom.

See told you!!!! :rotfl2:

A lot of these ring true with my family:-

My Nan would never pick up a dropped knife - she always said that if the person that dropped it picked it up then a man would come to see you. (I have no idea what she meant)

My son always has to have the volume control on an even number.

As for me I'm a very untidy person but if I lose something from a set (even a piece of the kids games) I'm in panic mode - and I won't give or throw away an incomplete set.

I hate being late. If I'm relying on a lift from someone else I get quite tense if they're so late that it makes me late (or not as early as I planned!)

I like things to be symmetrical (although I'm beginning to overcome this since I've started scrapbooking)

I wash underwear or socks before throwing them away.

I'm quite obsessed with making sure the doors are locked and the cooker is off. I'm sure i'm borderline OCD with this. Sometimes I check two and three times. I've made DH drive back to the house because we hadn't checked the cooker before leaving! Sometimes we've been 15 minutes away from home and i've made him turn around!

I'm also quite fussy with the way the loo roll is hanging...it has to roll 'over' and not 'under'. I'm a lot better now, I used to sometimes change the loo roll at other people's houses (i'm not proud of this... )!!!

Ok I'm having trouble picturing how the loo roll can do anything other than go over the thing... may have to go upstairs and try this out...

I have a thing with Loo roll as well and have changed it in peoples house's before.

I have to have all the hangars in the wardrobe facing the same direction, hooking over the rail, i get goosebumps if dh hangs something in there the wrong way round!

You lot are all craaaa-zeee! And to think my kids call me "Monica". :rotfl:

The majority of my things were knocked out of me when I moved in with Gavin but I still do a few;

I also HATE clothes hanging in the wrong direction, I also place clean clothes in a particular order and that order cannot be messed with!

If I opened a bag of crisps upside down I would bin it, I couldnt eat them.

I am sure it's a common one but all of my food labels have to be facing the front of the cupboard or fridge.

:yay:

All facing the front and standing to attention as my ex-husband used to say! :rotfl:
