All I wanted to do was buy a pear - can anyone tell me what type of pear is the tastiest? Thanks.

Agree with Bosc. If I'm just eating a pear, it's got to be a Bosc. If it's going into a salad of some kind, anything but a Bosc.

I like the Bosc first, the Bartlett second and I think then the D'anjou

I guess some are better than others for cooking but I just slice and eat.

The best pears in the world are the riviera pears from Harry and David but they are super expensive. We usually get the d'anjou pears.

I like Bartlett pears that are as hard as a rock, the way I like my apples. I don't like soft pears or apples.

I like the Bartlett also. The crunchier the better!!

I love Asian pears. In fact I go to an apple farm every year in the mountains of VA and pick boxes of them. They can get kind of pricey at the grocery stores. They kind of taste like a mixture of different fruits, it's hard to explain.

Pears are one of my favorite fruits. I work at a law firm and for some reason we become Harry and David central during the holidays. I had never had a Harry and David pear until this Christmas and I don't really understand why they're so expensive. They tasted just as good as many other pears I've had :confused3.

Baked pears are one of my favorite desserts :lovestruc.

A WDW Pear :)

Asian's are awesome. We have a pear tree, not Asian pears just regular old Bartlett's (I think, they came with the house and we never met the previous owners to ask), I like to slice them and freeze them for pear crisps and pies. :)

I hate pears - well, I like the taste but not the texture. IMO they are like eating a mealy mushy apple with sand in it...

DH likes pears - his favorites are the red ones, and then bartletts. He likes them soft. I never knew anyone ate them still crunchy - that might be the way to go.

I really only like the D'Anjou. I find some of the other varieties too cloying.

Royal Rivera Pears are the best. /thread
