Hi all:thumbsup2

We are visiting Oahu and Aulani next summer and are hoping to get tickets in advance for Pearl Harbor.

I've been trying to find out whether it matters what time of day to visit? (We are thinking about the afternoon), but every time I search online for recommendations, they only seem to suggest a morning visit, but is that advice just aimed at those without advance bookings?

I am going to try to get tickets as soon as the booking window opens, so hopefully I will have a choice of times, but want to make sure I visit at the best time, and will switch around my other plans to suit if necessary.

Many thanks for any help:thumbsup2

I agree that there is a lot to see if you want to put in the time which is probably why most suggest morning. As far as seeing the USS Arizona Memorial that really doesn't make too much of a difference. I've seen it both morning and afternoon.

Thank you both for your replies :wave2:

Our boys will be 8 and 11 when we visit, do you find children have the capacity to see everything, or should we just be looking at spending time only at the memorial? Just wondering what sort of period of time people spend there, especially with children.:thumbsup2

The chance for closures due to high trade winds are more likely in the afternoon.
ETA...easier to park in the morning as well.

We got tickets in advance and went in the morning. I think afternoon would probably be fine too, but it would be more crowded and hot. We left around lunchtime and it was much hotter by then vs. the morning (and there are a lot of outdoor exhibits). The museums were pretty cool and I think your kids would enjoy them.

I would worry about the parking in the afternoon. Parking is limited and until someone leaves you can't always find a place to park in the afternoon or it adds on so much time that you miss your reservation.

I too would suggestion morning at Pearl Harbor and be back to the resort for an afternoon swim/lazy river.

We got USS Arizona tickets online and got an 11:00 reservation for October 22nd this year. We showed up just before 10:00 am and checked in. They offered us 10:15 tickets when we checked in which minimized the wait. From what I could tell, their policy is to get you through sooner if you want so don't worry if you end up with a late morning reservation. If you show up earlier, they'll probably just push you through.

It was worth visiting for sure. Good luck.

How far in advance do reservations need to be made to get the time you want?
