we are all very very anxious to try 'ohana but i'm nervous because of the prevalance of peanut sauce that is served... obviously our family would ask for no peanut sauce, but is it smart/safe to eat there knowing that the family before us had peanut sauce on the table? (and possibly on the chairs?

can i ask that they super-wipe-down the table and the chairs and even the edges of the table where it might have dripped? or should i just find another restaurant?

how 'bout if we go to 'ohana for breakfast... safe/smart or stay away all together?

if your allergies works like mind - even smelling it (shrimps or pepper) I am in trouble....

so I would say avoid it - but you can always call that lady who owns everything!!!!
Brenda Bennett [Brenda.Bennett@disney.com] MAGIC KINGDOM Foods 407-824-5967.

ok---my DS, 8 has peanut allergies. When we have eaten at other restaurants at Disney it has been fine.
I would LOVE to eat at Ohanas, but I don't want to risk it.
There is just too much peanut sauce around for them to offer us a really clean table. Not that the tables are dirty, I just would not want cross contamination.
Best bet, don't go.

We have a peanut allergic daughter, and are *not risking Ohana's with her. The chances are just to high...from tables, chairs, bathrooms door knobs etc....etc...

If she is contact sensitive I would not risk it. My son is NOT contact sensitve (well, that we know of) ...however we chose to avoid it once we read the menu. I'm actually pretty nervous about eating Dinner at Kona Cafe as they have a few nuts. Will be making sure I call when we arrive and speak to the chef before we order.

Disney tends to go out of the way, if you really want to eat there, call Brenda (she who is the BEST!) and ask what could be done.

Good luck!

They handle food allergies very well at Ohana's as far as food preparation. However, if there are issues with inhalation or contact allergies, I'd avoid Ohana's. The one dip is a finger sauce. You are given "finger" food to dip in it. Then people, mostly children, are playing games (coconut races, etc.) Chances of coming in contact with peanut particles is very possible. Avoiding eating it is easy. My dh has a food allergy and his food was prepared special for him. He had no problems.

thanks for your feedback everyone... i guess we'll keep 'ohana off the list... ds' allergy is contact as well as ingestion... i'm glad to see that i'm not alone in my concerns... thanks again :flower:
