Has anyone tried those new PBJ pocket sandwiches? They are frozen and you let them thaw out at room temperature to eat them. I was thinking that maybe if they tasted good that it would be a neat way to take PBJ sandwiches for our youngest kids who seem to only eat PBJ! Does anyone have kids like that? What do you want for lunch - PBJ. What do you want for dinner - PBJ. Sometimes it is broken up with chicken nuggets, lol.
Has anyone tried them? princess:

I pack one of these in my daughter's lunch every day! She is the only one in the house who eats pbj's so it seems easier. Also, she hates crust so it just saves me some aggravation. They are kind of expensive so I always look for them and when they go on sale I stock up! I put the frozen sandwich in her lunchbox in the a.m. and by lunch it's perfect. Also helps keep her string cheese cold in the lunchbox! They are great to take on vacation by the way if your room has a frig.

I saw something on the tip board about buying slices of bread for like.69 cents at the foodcourts in pop and all stars, and then using the free condiments9peanut butter and jam) to make your own cheap sandwiches. Does anyone know if this is do able? It would mean you didn't have to keep food in your room anyway. :flower1:

LOL-She sounds like me and my brother when we were little. My mom would have to carry PBJ's in her purse to even fancy restaurants because we wouldn't eat anything else. I still love them and I'm 25. But hey I love Chef Boyardee's Beefaroni too!

Anyhow, Snowy I read that somewhere also, I will be staying at the ASMo in Feb so I will let you know.

My DD will only eat those Uncrustables since she hates the crust (doesn't work if I cut the crust off her sandwich-she knows the difference!LOL!) Anyway, while in Disney, I noticed that any restaurant w/ a kids' menu offering PB & J happened to serve Uncrustables (very pricey though of course!)

They are great! My kids love them, rarely do they ask to take something else for lunch. They do sell them at some of the counter service places but they are very pricey.

It will certainly be cheaper for you to buy them ahead of time. Most of the peanut butter and jelly sandwiches that are in the hotels. (pop, all stars, Portorleans) are uncrustables. They come in a little pack with goldfish and carrots. They are about four bucks I think.

I envy you guys. My DD 5 wont eat crusts also but she refuses to eat jelly. So every day it is making Peanut butter sandwiches without crusts. Oh as the original posters said sometimes it is broken up with chicken nuggets. :D

Try living with a 6y/o who won't eat peanut butter! Ugh, this kid cannot be mine! I love the stuff! He also doesn't each chocolate! Oh the disgrace!

Just wanted to let you guys know that Pampered Chef sells a sandwich cutter that makes any sandwich look like an Uncrustable. It is very easy to use. I also use different shaped metal cookie cutters to make their sandwiches into different shapes. Pumpkins for Halloween, Turkeys for Thanksgiving, Trees and angels for Christmas, the possibilities are endless. It cuts the crust off and it's fun. I started doing this when my daughter started giving me a hard time eating her lunch. I haven't had a problem since.

I actually did buy this last year in hopes I could make them myself, but I can't seem to make them w/o ripping the bread to shreds?????

Pampered Chef makes a tool that cuts off the crust and seals the bread like the uncrustables. I forget what it is called, but I bought one off ebay and love it.

Oops...should've read ahead :D

We've had them a few times around here. The kids loved them the first time -- probably because they were a novelty. When the "new" wore off the concept, they started nibbling on them and leaving them unfinished (and they're small -- more like half a sandwich). I tasted one, and I understand why: they taste stale.

I bought the round sandwich maker discussed above (might be Pampered Chef, might be a knock-off -- don't remember), and the kids love sandwiches made with it. The difference: they're fresh.

Since this is the budget board, I'll throw in a budget tip here: This sandwich maker is a bit wasteful, leaving behind a large amount of "corner" bread. I keep a ziplock in the freezer for corners, and when it gets full I make it into stuffing -- free stuffing essentially!

mrsschlep -- I use cookie cutters too when I'm in super-mom mode. I like to cut a shape into the top piece of bread and let the ham/cheese show through.

kldmom2000 -- Without having seen it, I suspect your bread is "ripping to shreds" because you're putting too much "stuff" into the sandwich. Very little filling can fit into this style sandwich.

kidmom2000, I know what you mean about the Cut and Seal sometimes tearing the crust. I run a knife around it, after pressing down and it seems to help.

These are the same PB & J sandwiches they sell for $3.50 each at WDW. They are made by Smuckers right.

Hello,

I sell Pampered chef...when I have time! The "cut-n-seal" will cut the bread but I found that if you use very fresh bread; it works better. First you need to cut like you would cut biscuit dough. Then you seal by pressing the button in the middle. I always flip it over and seal it on the other side. Also if you put a thin coat of peanut butter on each piece of bread, the jelly will not seep through.
I love this gadget!

I do buy the uncrustables if they are on sale. I went to the commissary last week and they were on sale plus had coupons hanging beside them $1 off 2. When they are that reasonable I stock up on them! So easy to grab and run!!

THey also sell these in the Bakery/Candy Shop on Main St.
That way you don't need to buy a meal and you can pick them up and just put them in your bag for later.
Debbie

Those are great! I am going to have to buy one. My DS refuses to eat the crusts too. I guess it is payback because I still do not care for crusts. LOL
