The turkey is in the oven, I know what veggies I'm making with it, but I need an easy but tasty dessert recipie that uses peaches. Does anyone have one? will you post it for me?

1 cup flour, self-rising
1 cup milk
1/2 to 3/4 cup sugar
1 stick butter
Several cups peaches

Pre-heat the oven to 375. Mix together flour, milk and sugar. Place butter in bottom of 2-quart baking dish, melt in pre-heating oven. Slowly add peaches and pour batter over top. Bake 45 - 60 minutes. Edges should be golden brown.

Wonderful served warm with vanilla ice cream on top.

To substitute for self-rising flour, use 1 cup all-purpose flour plus 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder plus 1/2 teaspoon salt.

I've done this as well when making this recipe and it comes out just as great.

Here's one -

Peach Pie with Oatmeal Crust

1 1/4 c. flour
3/4 c. old fashioned oats, uncooked
1/4 c. sugar
1/8 tsp. salt
1/2c. butter, melted
1 tbsp. water

filling -

2/3 c. brown sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/8 tsp. nutmeg
4 c. peaches, peeled and thinly sliced
5 1/3 oz. can evaporated milk
1/4 c. flour
1 egg

Topping:
1/4 c. old fashioned oats
1/4 c. brown sugar
1/4 c. flour
1/4 c. butter

Heat oven to 375. Combine flour, oats, sugar and salt. Add melted butter and water and mix well. Pat into a 9 inch pie plate and bake for 12-15 minutes until light golden brown.
In a separate bowl, mix 1/3 c. brown sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg. Add peaches, toss to coat and arrange in crust. Combine the remaining 1/3 c. brown sugar, milk, flour and egg. Mix until smooth and pour over peaches.
For topping, combine oats, brown sugar and flour. Add butter, cut in small pieces, and combine until mixed well. Sprinkle over pie. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until filling is firm. If the crust browns too quickly, place a piece of foil like a tent loosely on top. Serve warm or chilled.

This is a great late summer treat :sunny:

This probably won't help for now- but if you ever need another peach recipe this is great
It is a pampered chef recipe. It is yummy:

Peach shortcake.....quick and easy. I use Bisquick and make the shortcake recipe on the box, except I add a bit more milk and sugar. Peel and slice the peaches, cover with sugar and a little cinnamon, and refrigerate for a few hours. The sugar with make a nice juice for the shortcake. To serve, just top the warm shortcake with the peaches and whipped cream. Yum. :goodvibes

Just so you know, Chell's recipe is Peach Cobbler, and it's very Southern.

I make mine pretty much like hers except that I pour about a 1/2 cup sugar over the peaches and set them aside while I'm mixing the batter. I use approximately three cups of peaches -- depends on how it comes out and how sweet they are.

Well I thought I put the name of it in there but I sure didn't. Oops. I've got to go buy some peaches tonight so I can make it now.

It's nearly impossible to buy a ripe peach from the grocer. They're hard and they don't ripen at home. :furious:

Sheree - have you put the peaches in a paper bag for a day to ripen them? That usually works.

Hi There! Hey, last night the "Food Network" was showing "Take Home Chef" and they had a really yummy looking recipe for Peach Melba. It looked really easy and delicious. Just go to there website at www.foodnetwork.com and look for programing for Friday, Sept. 1, 2006 and the show title and they will list the recipes.

I wish I had my mom's peach cobbler recipe. it is the best.

dang. i just remembered that the peach shed closed today and i didn't go and get any peaches. now i'm sad.

Thanks for the recipies. Here's the one I made last night. It was very sweet, well it was for me anyway, I don't like things too sweet. Everyone else liked it.

Navajo Peach Crisp:

6 Large ripe peaches Sliced (5 to 6 cups)

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

3/4 cup all purpose flour

3/4 cup light brown sugar

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup butter

2 tablespoons pinon nuts

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
In 1 1/2 to 2 qt. baking dish toss peaches with granulated sugar and cinnamom. In a mixing bowl combine flour, brown sugar and salt. Cut in butter until mixture is coarse. Sprinkle over peaches. Sprinkle pinon nuts on top.
Bake 30 to 40 minutes until golden brown.

Note: I cut both sugars by about half, it was still too sweet for my taste. I also think if I make it again I would leave off the pinon nuts or use a different type of nut.

This was a very quik recipe to make, maybe took all of 5 minutes to toss together. I poped it in the oven while we were eating and let it cool a few minutes before serving.
