Has anyone looked for shark tooth fossils at Peace River? My mom wants to take a day trip to do this and I'm looking for some info. I've found some info on the internet regarding looking for fossils there, mostly other people's postings of fossils they found. It looks like the closest point to start is near Fort Meade. According to mapquest FM is only about 63 miles from WDW. Has anyone done this? Is it only accessible by canoe? Did you hire a guide?

Please help with any info you can provide. My mom agreed to go to WDW for 10 nights as long as we do a few day trips outside of Disney (I know, she's crazy right? :rotfl2: ). Just kidding! I would enjoy it and I think my DD (then 7) will like it too. Other than looking for fossils, we're planning on visiting a beach (either coast) and possibly Rainbow Springs.

TIA!

I will be at disney in august for a convention, and one of the links they gave us, is to an archaelogical expedition outfit that works in that area apparently. The link is below. Looks like something I would love to do.

Drew, thanks for the info. :thumbsup2 It looks like that might be the perfect way for us to look for fossils. :goodvibes Luckily, my DD is turning 7 on our trip which is they age the recommend. Also, depending on the location they take you to, it's only 1-1/2 to 2 hrs. from WDW. Thanks again! Terri

(I knew someone on disboards could help :disrocks: )
