Between Christmas and New Year we'll be entering Canada from the East on I-90. We usually cross the Rainbow Bridge but one of the trip planners I used has us going over the Peace Bridge. We'd be at either between 10:30 and 11 AM on Tues., Dec. 27. Which should we use to get to Niagara Falls, ON.

If you have a smartphone, hit the site http://www.niagarafallsbridges.com/ as you are nearing Buffalo. It shows the wait time at all 4 Niagara bridges on the home page. Rainbow bridge can get pretty backed up, so make your choice based on the traffic. Peace requires you to cross through, or around, Buffalo, so be aware of traffic. Overshooting Rainbow and using the Lewiston/Queenston bridge can save some time if Rainbow is backed up and it is rush time in Buffalo.

Yessss this is it. We live close to the border and basically just check this. To be fair, the trip on the Canadian side is faster, so if you are coming from down Buffalo way, and have to pass the peace bridge anyway, and even if the wait is 5 or 10 mins longer there than the other bridges, its still your better bet.

We always check the website too for wait times as we get closer to the bridges and then decide. :)

I use the Niagara Falls Bridges Twitter for in the moment updates on Bridge wait times - they update constantly.

Thanks, all. I do have a phone which will get me to the site and I will check as we approach.

As a frequent crosser, I tend to find Rainbow to be the worst. It's spits you out at the most convenient place, but can be a real time sucker.

I work at the Peace Bridge and it is normally has the least wait time. Rainbow is out of the wait and is normally backed up. Queenston is busy as this is the bridge GPS's normally take people to. The Peace Bridge is under constructions, so the best thing is to check the waiting times online.
