My Post-Disney Depression: Me and my Wife went to WDW for the first time on May 22-29 at the Poly. This was the best trip i ever had. We have no kids, and I know my wife had a good time but i don't think as much as i did.I planed this trip for a year and a half,we where on the platium package.I was ready to go home on the last day so i thought, but the day after i got home i started felling really sad like really BAD!I belive my wife thought i was crazy because i wanted to move to Orlando i was looking for work in WDW and everything the whole nine yards.I still fell sad i want to go back but my wife wants a different vacation next year then she said we can go back to WDW after that ,so that means another 3 years maybe :sad2:.I know this sounds crazy but i really miss that place,I was so sad that i missed a few days of work i could not eat.Iam a strong man i can handle anything but missing WDW has truly made me sad.Iam slowly geting over it.Now iam scared to go back thinking i will have the same felling when i leave agian.(but that won't stop me)Just wish i could go sooner!does any1 else have this problem? and whats the longest you waited to go back to WDW?I would really like the info.

loved the trip!

Someone told me if you get depressed after a vacation, that means you had a really great vacation, so i was told having those feelings is totally normal.

I go about every 3-4 years and the best thing you can do is find a calendar that far out and try to pin point your dates. You can call and book your hotel about 550 days out, which is like 16 months.

Depression has physical symptoms as well as other systems, this is why you probably couldn't go back to work. When i go next April, i am coming home on a Thursday, and recooping Friday, Sat & Sun. I know it will take me that long to unwind from my vacation before i have to face work again.

Visit the DIS boards too, there is always something new to learn and read other people's reports, its almost as fun as actually being there.

Really well written!!!
Yes, after our '05 trip, I was pretty depressed. It was such a great great time, and I was shocked how low I felt when we returned home, so you are definitely not alone.

What helped for me was putting together an album of the trip and leaving it out -- sure looked through it a lot. Oh, and this board helps a lot too. You'll find lots of company!

As far as when to go back, we did give in and returned 14 months later. Wasn't nearly as blue after this trip, sad, but not depressed. And like OhMari wrote, this time we flew Sunday-Friday, so had the whole weekend to adjust.

Sounds like you had a truly magical vacation. :wizard:

Yes it was truly the best trip i ever taken,i think my wife enjoyed as much but she won't confess.lol.we had concierge room as well so that pampering made it worse. I guess when you plan a trip to WDW and its everything you wanted and more, then you come home to reality you crash from all the fun you had and you want it back, but i guess i will have to suck it up and just hope the next trip to WDW come faster than i hope! This time it will be ten days!lol

thanks for the replys

On my last trip, I missed it before I even left. I am ready to go back.

Hey, I totally understand how you feel, I also had pdd when my family and I returned from WDW in Feb 2006. I was so sad and depressed for a few days. I would suggest, in addition to the other suggestions that have already been made, is to begin 'discussing/planning' your next trip. That is how I have been handling my pdd. What I have done is, researched different hotels, restaurants, and even some tours that we have never done before. I have found that being in the planning stage is a lot better and more fun that the 'just returned blah stage'. We mosty likely wont be headed down there again until jan/feb 2008 for dec 2008. But I am having a great time planning and researching. :yay:
