It can be noxious, really. It's like, the idea behind it is good, but people can be so stupid about doing simple things that it just turns out blowing up in their faces and being ridiculous. (See: baa baa rainbow sheep. wth.) But it needs to be said that the virulent, completely one-hundred-percent anti-anything PC stance that so many people have is, more often than not, waaay more irritating and damaging than the actual Politically Correct *whatever* they're complaining about having to 'conform' to. :|

I think it's all just ridiculous.
Everyone's so afraid of offending people that it's virtually impossible for them to get their point across, and then they end up offending people by being PC.
It's just so dumb. It's easier for everyone when you're direct about what you mean.

Both political correctness and political incorrectness should be taken in moderation.

I admit, I get PC at times because some things are a pet peeve of mine. BUT, I don't take it overboard. I agree that PC needs to be taken into moderation, or else I'm going to kick your head off.

For instance: I hate it when people say "gay" in place of "stupid". That annoys me to no end. And I call them for it.

But, when people insist on using every single political correct phrase in the book it really annoys me, too. There's just something that make sense to be politically correct, but some of them are just absurd.

I do that with "retard". Like if someone says "Shut up you retard!", I'd playfully try to get the point across that I don't like it by saying "HEY! We prefer to be called mentally incapable". I try not to get to serious with a first time offense, but when people keep using it is when I get nasty.

It's nice to know I'm not alone in that. I get so much crap from some people when I say "Native American". Most of the time they're just like "Dude, say Indian. It's easier". and I just want to tell them "But it isn't correct! We aren't from India!!! We are Americans!"

It bugs me when people go "oh that's SOOOOO gayyy". And when they use "retarded" incorrectly. I don't mind if someone is saying (such as a doctor) to a parent "your child is mentally retarded", but if someone goes "OMG that test is sooooooo retarded", I get mad.

Everything offends someone. I'm not going to go through life in my tiptoes worrying about what other people think of my words.

Being un-PC doesn't bother me. It's ignorant rascists, homophobes, and generally 'holier than thou' people who bother me. The people who are intentionally being mean and offending people.

Although, going overboard on political incorrectness can be bad too. For example, telling jokes about eating babies :/

While she might not mean it to be offensive, it is because it's being used as a synonym for "stupid" or "dumb". So does that lead to gays being stupid and dumb? That's why I don't like it. I could understand the use of the word "queer" because it's definition is "that which differs from normal", but "gay" means "happy" and is a colloquial term for "someone of a homosexual nature".

I think what really ticks me off about people saying "Indian" instead of "Native American" is that it's geographically incorrect. Not so much the political side, but the fact that Columbus screwed up and the name stuck.
